Default Brett Favre versus Drew Brees--Very Similar Styles--who will win?

I love this thread because Brett Favre is fascinating and he's also facing a fierce competitor in Drew Brees from Purdue.

Favre is a grinder,a bull,a gloryhog,an emotional man,a person who likes to stick the dagger in the heart of the teams that he came from(ask the Packers and Jets). He's also a man that's faced great adversity personally. He's had to deal with an addiction to pain pills which is understandable. He plays every game with reckless abandon like nobody else. His wife Deanna has had to fight breast cancer, his brother Scott got in trouble with the law(I think he's in jail),and his father Irv had a heart attack and got into a car accident and died. That's a lot for anyone human being to deal with.Maybe Brett has something to prove. After his father passed away,he came through with a record performance on Monday Night Football that his dad would've been proud of.
    .
His relationship with Green Bay is unfortunate. He dedicated years of taking a beating and bringing Green Bay back to the promised land and delivered.People were unaware that he was great friends with Hall of Famer and all time great Reggie White. He looked up to Reggie.White established a top notch career for himself and came to Green Bay to join Brett to try to win a super bowl and they came through.Teammates loved Brett and his special way of celebratory touchdowns. He was a grinder and Green Bay was the place for him.Age came into play and Aaron Rodgers slid into Brett's spot. That was not acceptable.Brett favre dosent play second fiddle to anyone .Especially on a team where he was a god and gave everything of himself.
Brett wanted a trade to Minnesota and he had to settle for the Jets.It was a brief relationship with yet another bad ending.
This is where things get interesting.Brett is 1 game away from the Super Bowl. He's had a spectacular season at age 40.There's going to be bad blood. He has something to prove and on a sidenote, could possibly meet the Jets.
The only team in Brett's way is New Orleans and star quarterback Drew Brees.Brees is the premiere quarterback in the NFL.He's gotten better with age and has been lighting up the scoreboard. He also shares a competitive streak and is not afraid to express his authority.Ask tight end Jeremy Shockey who didn't follow directions and carried some attitude himself.
Brees, personally, had problems with his mother....I'm not sure about the details but it's obvious by watching the fire in Brees's eyes, that he's out for blood and has something to prove also.

Two men, with two chips on their shoulders.Battle of the Titans. Two quarterbacks who have to be number one.The question is "who'll be number one" and win this game?

The game is in the Saints backyard.A city where hurricane Katrina has caused devastation. This is a toss up but after watching the Saints put a beating on the Cowboys,I'm going to pick New Orleans to go to the Super Bowl.Brees is on a mission and with Colston,Bush, and Shockey sprinkled in, they seem unstoppable. Brett has had a great season and proved his point.Congratulations go out to the Vikings but I predict that Drew Brees will be super in the Superdome and take the Saints, formerly the "aints",to the Superbowl. It's a must watch.--Don't miss it!

I grew up a Favre fan, but I think they have their differences as well... with that said I think Drew is a better QB and Favre is a better winner. Take what you want from it, I'll be watching for sure lol

Favre is a better winner but has a larger resume.Winning is all that counts and I'm not convinced that Brees is better than Favre in his prime.Enjoy the game.I would love to see Favre vs. the Jets but I think that New Orleans will win

It's a tough call, but I've got to lean towards Brees. But I'm a homer for Brees because I was at Purdue when he played. Of course, I was there with Orton, too, but never cared for him much. It will be entertaining if Favre goes to the Superbowl with the Vikes, though.

    Brees will win the battle.

Favre will see all types of blitzes come Sunday

I say the old man come through this sunday...The Minn D keeps Brees under pressure and Favre's experience comes in...
Going w/ the VIKES +pts in this one.

I think Farve's going to pull an Elway here. The old wise guy beats the lack of big game experience Drew Brees.

Drew Brees will throw for 389 on that Vikings secondary

    I wouldn't be surprised to see Brees throw for 600+ yards..Maybe 10 TD's too.

The key to this game lies in the pass rush. Which ever QB gets the most consistent heat throughout the game will be the deciding factor. Both teams are great but only one can advance when the dust settles

Brees is accurate ----machine like----Colston is very underrated

Favre and the Vikes defense are too much for NO. Vikes win it all this year.

please dont kid your self when you say vikings will win it all this year... even if they some how get passed the saints (which is very unlikely) they will not beat the colts...vikings are not the same team when not at home... just look at some of the games on the road this year...farves gunna get exactly what warner got last week saints all day breezzzy vs manning

Favre versus Sharper is interesting to me. Sharper was a long time teammate of Favre but went to the Vikings before going to the Saints this year.

Favre & Sharper had 6 games as opponents in the classic Vikings-Packers rivalry. Favre owned that matchup. Favre had some of his best games and Sharper only had 1 interception in all of those games. When they meet again, I expect more of the same.

Why is Favre vs the Jets such a biggie? Everything was on good terms wasn't it?

I'd rather, as a football fan, watch the Colts vs Saints, but I am just one opinion. I think the Saints should be favored over Indy.

As I see the odds today, The Colts are 7 times more likely to get to the Super Bowl that the Jets.

MIN defense will decide the game - they could win if they sack QB as many times as they did last week

If things were on good terms, he'd still be there.

Favre didn't want to be a Jet, the Jets didn't want the drama.

Mangini and Favre didn't get along, Mangini maybe never wanted Favre.

Jets fans certainly blame Favre for the meltdown last year: 8-3 to 9-7.

I'm sure Favre would love sticking it to the Jets and vice versa.

Yeah, they sure stepped it up a few notches. Almost too convincing.

Ray Edwards, Pat Williams, Kevin Williams... <= all with a roids past.

The biggest difference is home field advantage here. Bret is a little better than Brees and has a much stronger arm but the home crowd is so powerful in these games. I say Saints take it just because they are home.

I see this as a typical capping mistake that people will make. The Cards were worn out and on a short week after going into OT against the Pack. The Saints got a Cards team that was a step slow after tiring track meet of a game. The Vikings will be the exact opposite, well rested and coming off a blowout win.

Brees might carve up the Vikings as well, but it won't be nearly as easy with the Vikings pass rush breathing down his neck.

It is very simple people. The QB that gets the most support from his ground game wins this game. The QB that is forcedto throw 40+ times because his team is behind loses this game. Figure out which team will be successful on the ground, and you have your winner.
