Default Why are Broncos favored by -14 over Raiders

    - Yes I know the Raiders arent good. I still feel that is too many points in a div game. The Raiders ahve been playing pretty decent except last week. They usually respond after a shitty week. The broncos shouldnt be favored by -14 points againnt anyone. Just my opinion. I also know the Broncos have been dominant in this Rivalry for years but I feel the Raiders know this a chance to screw up Denver's playoff bid and will try extra hard.. Thoughts

At least Jamarcus Russell isn't starting. I'll roll the dice with the Raiders getting all that wood.

2 words, Chuck Frye. Watched that loser play in Cleveland for a few years when I lived there, no way he should be on an NFL squad, let alone be starting. Broncos 34, Raiders 6. I'd lay the number here, whatever it is, but I won't be on this game.

You say "the Broncos shouldn't be favoured by 14 points against anyone" but they've won four games by more than fourteen points this season.

Frye...I'll still take Oakland and the 2 TDs though.

Actually, I think the line was has been moving based on a belief that Russell was going to start. It's clear that the Raiders don't like that guy, don't think they can win, and generally quit when he is under center. Given that they have chosen to go with Frye, I expect the line will move back toward the opener.

Frye is an upgrade from Russell!

Why is this thread in players talk? I posted this in NFL forum. See people say pt isnt for sports and then when i go put a sports thread in NFL forum it lands here.

Broncos aren't that bad. Their defense isn't bad. Their QB Orton is SHIT but other than that, they aren't a bad team. My friend argued with me last week saying Orton actually did really well last week. Ha.

I'll buy a few points and take Denver - 12 1/2 or lower. But will still be taking them this week. I don't think Denver is a bad team. I think they can beat a team like the Raiders fairly easy. But, I still think they aren't playoff material with Orton starting.

The public will probably be hammering the Raiders, thinking they can pull a Washington. That Washington game is very deceptive. Denver was on their way to blow them out, before a myriad of weird things started happening. Washington converting a 4th and 30 for a TD, Orton getting injured, while Chris Simms was completely clueless and sucked as hell.

To score on Denver, your Quarterback better be good. Denver has yet to give up 300 yards to any Quarterback this season, so the Raiders will have a very difficult time scoring on them that way. All of Peyton Manning's 4 Touchdowns last week came on 3rd downs, even the greatest QB in the league needed several tries just to get it in. If Denver shuts down the run, their will be many 3 and out's for the Raider. Which will equal to more scoring opportunities for the Broncos.

    I might take Oakland.

Denver slipped for a month after a surprising start. But when you look back you realize they beat a Cincy team on a fluke last minute deflection, a SD team that had injuries galore back then, a NE team at home that we now know is not a vintage NE squad, and Dallas at home that we now know is not very good on the road.

So then they lost what, 4 in a row.

Then beat the Giants at home, short week Thanksgiving night then beat KC. Not very impressive wins! Everyone thought they were "back"!.

Then lost at 12-0 Indy, who was coasting with very little to gain (like NO)... all Indy had to do was win one game to clinch home field. But Denver still struggled, was down 21-0, and lost by 12.

SO you are right, 14 is a lot to lay for Broncos when you look at their body of work, and although Frye is a journeyman, he is 1,000% better than Russell. Look how much better Raiders were with Gradkowski... also a journeyman, who could distribute the ball, lead, make some plays, hit some passes, did not blow up like overrated Russell.

At this point I like Oak + 14, will either bet them or pass, no way I lay 14 with Denver!

Actually they didn't just beat those guys, they choke them and destroyed them. They'll do the same to the Raiders. What your not understanding is, it doesn't matter who the Raiders have at QB. They don't have the QB/Recievers combo that can matchup against the #2 pass defense in the NFL to score, even one touchdown. The Raiders defense will eventually tire out and quit, that's when Denver blows them away.

Lakerboy,Your right ,thats alot of points, this tells me they want you to go with the raiders, The raiders started to play better didn't quit .Starting a new quarterback this late in the year reflects to the players they are packing it in ,my guess they'll get hammered especailly if Denver gets off to a fast start, which they are capabile of doing to a team like the jags. By the end of half time they will be hanging thier heads . Well Thats how I see it if Im wrong it certainly won't be the first time. Good luck , tell you what look at Indy New England and especially if colts win New orleans playing Detroit with a 4 or 5 point spread in that indoor arena will make them look like they are playing the sisters of the poor... Good Luck, Last week I was 8-0 , and the card looks easy again.

Not worth taking the chance on this game. I don't care who the raiders beat, they are still the raiders.

Knee injury. It didn't look super serious, but he did leave the game and didn't return last week. Word is that he is out for this weekend.

I'm glad I took the Raiders in the 2nd half at +8, I got my money back from these donks. We'll the Broncos still got two games left, two wins next week and they're end.
