    Default Oakland Vs Washington

I believe that because Oakland beat Pittsburgh, there is great value in this line. After watching the Browns maul Pittsburgh, I believe Washington is the team that rightfully should be favored by more than 3 in this. What do you think? I am thinking of going big on Washington. By the way, I predicted Cleveland and the under in another thread 2 days ago due to the weather being a factor.

    I also like the Jets -3, GB -3, Az -3, Carolina +13, Stl +13 and Denver +7.

I love Washington here. Washington has opened up their offense in the past 2 weeks and if you look at there last 3 weeks they could have very easily been 3-0 instead of 0-3. If they would have had a decent kicker they would have beat the Saints, the lost to Philly by 3 and Dallas by 1. The week before that they killed a Denver team that put up a beating on Oakland. I agree with your observation, because Oakland beat Pitt they are getting an edge.

HORRIBLE situational spot for Washington, line too short to take Oakland. Pass unless line rises to at least +3, in which case Raiders would become solid play.

The Raiders are coming off a huge upset win over the Steelers while the Redskins are coming off a tough loss to the Saints. Washington bounces back this Sunday in Oakland.

Our Sunday late afternoon NFL selection is on the Washington Redskins plus the point on the road over the Oakland Raiders.
Last week, these two teams had very opposite emotions. Oakland came from behind to shock the world champion Steelers, with a 27-24 win as a 14 ½-point underdog, while Washington collapsed against the unbeaten New Orleans Saints.
Kicker Shaun Suisham (now ex-kicker, after his release on Tuesday) missed two field goals, including a 23-yard chip shot, which would have wrapped up the game for the Redskins. The Saints went on to win the game 33-30.
But even though Washington might be a bit down after that game, it is still deserving of a wager here, as Oakland falls into a nasty 26-43 ATS situation which goes against teams off upset wins as underdogs of more than 10 points, provided they're not favored by three or more points.
This system has already provided two blowout winners this season with San Diego over KC (after the Chiefs' upset win over the Steelers), and the Jets over Oakland (after the Raiders' upset of Philly). Look for the Redskins to bring Oakland back down to Earth.
    Free Pick: Redskins +1 (-110)

bleh, my thinking is after three heartbreaking losses vs. superior teams, especially last week, how can the Skins possibly get up for this weak opponent after traveling cross-country for a non-conference game?

Oakland has won 4 games S/U and 6 ATS. They are 1-0 aginst the NFC East at home, and that win came against Philly. Washington is 3-9 S/U and 6-6 ATS. They have not defeated an NFC East team this year and have gone 1-7 after a 2-2 start. Washington is -1 now. The wrong team is favored.

Are you kidding me? Aside from W-L numbers, can you please point any other areas where Oakland is ahead of Washington?

I agree with your points about the Steelers and Oakland's win, but still like the Raiders in this spot. They are a new team without Russell under center and playing with confidence, plus their catching points at home.

Of course Washington is the more talented team, but that really means nothing when you are talking about a game that is meaningless for playoff purposes. These type off games are won by the team that simply WANTS it more, and the Skins come into this game disheartened while the Raiders come in on a bit of a high.

So, it comes down to motivation. One team has just had an unbelievable win against a team that no one believed they would defeat. The other one should have won the last 3 games against superior opponents, but they relinquished fourth quarter leads and, subsequently have nothing to show for their valiant efforts. Now, they face a team that is clearly less talented. If you are going to suit up and have a good chance to get a 'Win' after being so close all these weeks, why not play to win? What else do you have to do? Besides, pride and jobs are on the line and that can be just as big of a motivating factor as a playoff berth. I think the loss to the Saints would have been more painful had Washington had something other than pride and bragging rights at stake on that game? I think everyone agrees that they gave the Saints a run for their money. That should be reward enough for the Skins and I think they shake off any lingering after effects of the loss rather quickly.

Who do you suppose is hungrier for the win?

Does the book not pay 'real' money if you bet on teams like this? One if these teams will win and as cappers we are trying to figure out who that is. Get off your high-horse and say something of value rather than making useless vague condescending remarks.
