Default You cannot challenge a fumble?

Did Dallas just get screwed? Looked like Felix Jones recovered the fumble and the refs said the play was not reviewable!

I didn't understand it myself. I thought they would just review whether the guy was down or not before losing the ball. It seemed like he was. Almost like the wrong part of the sequence was challenged and ruled to be not challengeable.

I am sure we'll be hearing from Cris Collinsworth tonight on this one.

Troy Aikman was very confused; after commercial, he said the rule book states a loose ball field recovery is not challengable.

Seems like loose ball fumbles are challenged all the time! Dallas definitely got screwed here. Even if the rule book states that, it is a poor interpretation and is not in the spirit of the game.

Oh well! I got Packers +3, lol

you can challenge a fumble, but not the recovery, unless it's in the endzone.

No play on the game, but it looked to me that Jones had it. Should be reviewable.

I am sure the "competition committee" may have a rule change looming here.

The cowboys did get screwed by the call, but i don't think it would have changed the outcome of the game.

^^ Dallas was driving and had a ton of momentum with alot of time left. This was a clear example of how rigged the NFL is. Cheating refs doing their finest

Some of the challenge rules are retarded.

Jones did recover the fumble, refs screwed up. However, Dallas offense was total shit today and couldn't do anything. Roy Williams showed why he is not a #1 receiver anymore.

Replay should be done away with totally if it cannot make sure the call is made correctly...after all, that is it's purpose.

All this "non-reviewable" crap is ridiculous. Jones recovered the fumble and was down by contact. The ref misinterpreted the rule anyway. The issue was not whether the fumble was recovered, as it clearly was, and then was ripped out of Jones's arms as he sat on his a$$, the issue was whether Jones was down by contact or fumbled the ball again, at least to anyone with eyes and a brain. If that important of a play in a 10-0 game with a whole quarter left to play can't be corrected, then scrap the entire system as it is counterproductive.

I for one can live with a bad call much easier than a bad call such as this or the Cutler/San Diego fiasco last year being reviewed, being clearly wrong, and then not being changed anyway. You hate to blame the refs for deciding a game (not that the call yesterday did, but it certainly ended it prematurely), but they in fact do sometimes, and it is all the more heinous when they have a chance to correct the calls.

Then the same jack@ss ref lets McCarthy disrupt the game for 5 minutes when he didn't even have a challenge...without even calling a penalty. Kudos to McCarthy though for making a smart play and disrupting the game momentum again, he clearly knew he didn't have a challenge left.

I have to wonder why any play is not reviewable. The NFL is officially opposed to gambling, but I get a bad feeling that there is a connection between gambling and NFL rules that some plays can not be reviewed. The NFL has to give its refs some elbow room to throw the game one way or another by a couple of points.
