Just a guess, but John Fox could give two shits about the over/under

he has to have a touchdown...at what point would he expect to be in a better situation?

There's simply no way on earth it makes sense to kick a field goal in that spot.

    I agree.

You kick the field goal and extend the game. Don't know what those other two clowns are talking about.

You need an onside kick either way, you took your shots at the endzone, you failed, you take the FG right there.

Poor coaching, it happens every week. Same with Minnesota/Pittsburgh a couple weeks ago. Idiot Childress coulda had a field goal with :50 left and given a chance.. instead he burns up the clock, then with the game virtually over with :04 left, calls a pass where Favre gets crunched.

Same with Andy Reid tonight. No timeouts, Kicks a FG with 4:30 left down 7. Still need the touchdown, except now you don't have the ball with no timeouts. Go for it on 4th down.

    Morons.

    No, no, no.

If you kick the field goal, you now have 30 seconds to score a TOUCHDOWN. You will be lucky to get even close to the 4 yard line.

You have to go for the TD from the 4-yard line in this spot, it's a really good opportunity - and obviously (to say the least) you stand more chance of getting into FG range in the remaining 30 seconds than you do of scoring a TD.

Of course, either scenario depends on you recovering an onside kick, so the whole thing is so unlikely as to not really matter that much

    Hey Sekrah, Mammoth,

I've searched in vain for some NFL observer, expert, insider, analyst, ex-player, ex-coach who thinks that going for the TD in that spot was wrong or even controversial. I don't appreciate being called a clown, so you can take a custard pie to the face - !

There is less than 30 seconds left on first down and it's a two position game. It's 4th down so that means whether you kick the FG or go for the TD there is going to be in between 15 and 20 seconds left if you get the ball on the onside kick back and thats being generous.

Scenario A: You kick the FG. You are down by 7 now. You get the ball back with 15 seconds left with around 60 yards to score a TD. Now you probably attempt a hail mary or two to end the game.

Scenario B: You go for the TD. You score and are down by 3 with 15 seconds to go and only have to move the ball a much shorter distance to tie it up.

The "extend the game argument" is usually a valid one except in scenarios like this. You have to have a TD and a FG or two TDs and you probably have about 3-4 plays to do it in whether you kick the FG or go for the TD. In other words, you can't extend the game when you have a limited amount of plays regardless of your original decision to kick the FG or go for the TD.

If Fox kicks the FG there he should have been canned.

****ing retards...thats the best chance you have to get the touchdown you absolutely have to go for it... you can get in fg range off one pass if you get the onside kick.

absolute joke to think you take the 3 hahah

At least a score of any kind goves you a chance. No points at all and you don't get the opportunity to even try an onsides kick. That's like saying ... nah we don't want a fumble recovery on defense, we'll try and get a pick-6 instead.

Oh and I want everyone to know that I am in no way sticking up for BWM ... the guy is a fukking clown. Just my 2 cents.
