    In reality it just means that a particular team needs to win that particular game or they can count on playing golf when the season ends. Tonight, it is the Chargers who dress up in this situation. If they lose they will be 3 games out of 1st place with 11 to go and they will have lost 1 game against the team that is ahead of them, in this case Denver. That would mean that the Chargers would have to make up 2 losses on the Broncos, then beat them in Denver, and get a better tie breaking record against them by the end of the year. Not impossible, but if Denver doesn't totally collaspe, it would be hard to do.
