Denver still has a lot of non-believers (somehow), and I'm guessing there are a few holdouts who still think SD should be good. I've only got three plays this week in the NFL, Denver was one of them.

Edit: The funny thing about Denver is, if you've disliked them from the start, you've had a built in excuse to consider them overrated, despite their game results.

Week 1: The Stokley play against a Bengal team that folks thought sucked at the time
Weeks 2 and 3: Beat up on garbage teams
Week 4: Barely held on against a mediocre Dallas team at home.
Week 5: Got lucky to win the coin toss in OT against NE.

I've seen folks chain together this line of reasoning (with some minor variations) to convince themselves that Denver is not a good team. I can't find a reasonable basis to think the Chargers will win, let alone cover, against Denver. I'm not saying they can't, just based on the play on the field this year Denver looks clearly like the superior team. I've won four weeks in a row betting the Broncos; I'm hoping they win close in a fluky-appearing way again so the trend continues.

I think this is where Denver might hit a wall. I'll give a more in depth homer perspective why the Broncos will not be able to cover the spread later on this week.

Look at the Chargers record at home on Sunday Nights and Monday Nights and you'll know why. The Chargers are going to win this game by 2+ TDs

The Chargers at home, coming off a bye they are going to beat the snot out of Denver. Orton like Brady... i never laughed so hard when I read that the other day... Denver will come crashing to earth

Just ride the streak until it ends, they have been +money almost every time this year, what more could you want?

Like SD but you have to factor in Norv Turner

Everyone said ride the 49ers and look what happened? If I were to pick, my $ is on Chargers. This is a Broncos let-down game. They
have done their job. Exhausting games vs pats and cowboys. They are more looking forward to the bye week and rest up.

The NY Jets were pretty much in this same position last year when they traveled to San Diego for a night televised game.

Look back and see what happened . . .

Chargers beat the old Denver to pulp in recent years. But this is not the old Denver.

I think Denver wins this SU. They don't have identifiable weak spots. Chargers have many.

SD at home on MNF coming off BYE, need a big win in front of national audience.
Denver is 5-0 and still has no respect, they are good team

as of now, no play for me

but, for SNF, LOVE ATLANTA over the Bears only -3, that seems amazing to me

I live in Colorado and believe me Denver will be ready. They practice harder than any team in the NFL. The chargers are the same team, who allowed over 30+ points against a mediocre steelers offense. San Diego defense is just plain horrible. I'm going huge on Denver.

i am on denver this week as well. i might place a moneyline bet, but i have +4 booked already. i bought into the hype of the chargers being a superbowl contender and they are not. charger d allows 25 pts a game. the only reason we lose here is the bronco d comes back to earth a little.

Can anyone name the only active coach in the AFC to have won a playoff game in the last 2 years?

Yeah, that's right Norval Eugene Turner. For as much sh*t as everyone talks about him, he is the only coach in the AFC to have won a playoff game in the last 2 years.
Now do I think he does bonehead things every once in awhile. Yes. But, I also don't have any football teams calling me to coach either. So what do I know.
All I can say, is Norv came into SD and has taken his team into and won games in the playoffs 2 years in a row. I'll take that any year over having my team not make it.
Now as far as the game this coming week goes. I am going with the homer bet on SD. I think this is the week where Denver does hit the wall. Kyle Orton is no Tom Brady, hell, even Tom Brady is not playing like himself right now. If not for some misthrows by Brady (hitting Welker on a crossing pattern in the feet) that game would have been a whole lot different.
I am not saying Denver is not a good team. i think they have proved that. But divisional matchup, huge game, huge Rivalry, hometown crowd. Just like week one when the Raiders came out hard trying to beat SD. I think SD shows up this game and delivers big.

I don't know who I like yet, but the line of SD -3 at home seems right where it should be. I see nothing unusual at all, can't make Denver a road favorite here.

I agree, I can't take SD vs a very strong Denver team. Good team, good coaching, and a lot of confidence, but that tough win vs Pats is scaring me b/c that took alot...

DO NOT TAKE DENVER. I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE DENVER. Go huge on SD. If somehow SD loses this game, or doesn't cover, I will never post here again. That's how confident I am

Half you guys just don't get how much home field mean on SNF or MNF game. The line is right on this game. I freakin hate these stupid ass threads what am I missing here? It's like Vegas and the Oddsmakers have NO IDEA what they are doing when setting the lines. Unreal....

If anything, -3 may be a tad SHORT for Chargers here, so Broncos actually ARE getting some respect.

So you're saying they get it right every time? You can't be serious These are the same odds makers that predicted that SD be a Superbowl contender. RIGHT

Denver +165 ML is my play. Why? Because Denver has proved that they're legit. SD hasn't proved anything.

Actually, THIS is the week that Denver proves whether or not they are legit. If the Broncos can go into San Diego and beat a Chargers team that has been injury-depleted early on and has now had two full weeks to get healthy, then I will be very impressed.

Beating the Patriots was great, but to be fair, the Broncos had inside info.

The Broncos are in a bg letdown spot here after the emotionally charge win over New England. Go take a deep look at what happens to Denver after they beat NewEngland in the following game. At -3 this game isnt playable.

Maybe worth a small small play on the Chagers and the over....The BYE week will help the Chargers get healthy and perhaps patch-up that awful defense. They just released starting Safety Clinton Hart, and will most likely be starting rookie Kevin Ellison in his place...This might put more pressure on the starters to perform better, on the other hand, Orton might have a chance to take advantage...either way, this line is pretty tight to lay anything heavy on, in my opinion.

Putting all comparisons aside of the teams' various offensive and defensive strengths and weaknesses for the moment, why are so many people eager to bet against a team (any team) when they've been winning? I see way too many people justifying their SD pick with "The Broncos have to lose sometime" or some variation on it. I think by this point, even the skeptics have to admit that Denver has been an under-rated team this year. How many games does a team have to win before people stop trying to justify why the other team lost? A win is a win. Blame it on the coinflip? Luck is a big part of winning...

That being said, if you genuinely believe that the Chargers will be the better team, then bet them. However, I feel like a lot of the reasons people have suggested why SD will win are trend based, and you can find historical reasons to justify pretty much any team in any situation (Norv Turner is the only coach in the AFC with a win in the playoffs for the last 2 years? Really? That's relevant how?).

I would much rather ride a win streak and be wrong once than second guess the team that has continued to impress, week after week.
