    Default SmackDown's MNF

If you follow the Smack.........You know that sometimes when I make a play, you won't agree.........but if you follow..........usually you make money.

    Tonights Play:

Carolina ML 3 Units.........(Don't need the 8 points tonight)

Carolina Dallas Over 48 5 Units.

The Panthers are 0-2 and desperate for a win!

They played well AT ATLANTA last week............(The same ATL that got beat down in NE on Sunday)........

Look for Steve Smith to have a BIG night against a suspect Dallas secondary.

Tony Romo DOES not do well under this type of pressure and look for the "Boo Birds" to come out early and often.

Add in the Barber injury........and the 3rd worst Defense in the NFL.....(Cowboys).....along with a Carolina Hunger to win tonight along with one of the most talented offensive lines in the NFL........and a Steve Smith who ALWAYS shows up in prime-time:

    Panthers 31
    Cowboys 24

    Smackdown,

Thanks a million. I've been looking out for such a bold thread. I was contemplating taking the points, but that'll undermine the value. I'm tailing you on this.
    Let's smack the books.

Don't need the points for a number of reasons:

Cowboys have not impressed so far this year but Carolina has been tested.

    1. Cowboys whip up on a Tampa team that is the worst in football. Then they implode at home vs. the Giants.

    2. Carolina should have lost at Philly.......(probably the best team in the NFL when McNabb is healthy)....They played ATL to the WIRE at Atlanta...........who then got beat down by New England........the same New England that had to come back vs. Buffalo........the same Buffalo that held the Saints to a low score until the end of that game yesterday.

It's about Matchups in the NFL.

The public loves "America's Team" but don't look at the whole picture. Romo will get beat again tonight and here is why:

The Panthers have TOO MUCH SPEED AND TALENT to lose tonight. The cowboys gave up 21 Points to a Tampa Bay team that CAN'T score........just benched the QB and is the worst in all of football.........minus the Rams.

Steve Smith and Jake ALWAYS SHOW UP IN PRIMETIME..............

Remember this is the SAME TEAM that went 12-4 last year and have been TESTED this year.

    The Cowboys have not.

    Panthers win tonight.

I agree Philly doesn't get any respect this year, but that will change as weeks go by. I like Carolina tonight. I am just weary of not taking the Points. GL Smackdown.

I don't think you can say because A beat B and B beat C then A will beat C. Besides, the Pats made Atlanta look terrible yesterday with a totally makeshift defense (I don't many ppl who aren't Pats fans could name more than 1 or 2 defenders for them).

So Carolina not beating them the week before makes Carolina more likely to win?? If anything I would say Carolina has played like garbage and Dallas could be 2-0 but lost to one of the best 3 teams in football.

Carolina also have a lot of injuries on defense tonight.

The Panthers are 5-3 (62.5%) on Monday nights.

Jake Delhomme's stats on Monday nights are 98 of 154 (64%) for 1172 yards (234.4 ypg) with 10 touchdowns and 6 interceptions.

Tony Romo's stats on Monday nights are 78 of 134 (58%) for 952 yards (238ypg) with 8 touchdowns and 9 interceptions.

Steve Smith's stats on Monday nights are 29 receptions (5.8 per game) for 390 yards (78 ypg) and 3 touchdowns.

Jason Witten's stats on Monday nights are 52 receptions (5.2 per game) for 638 yards (63.8 ypg) and 4 touchdowns.

    • This is Roy Williams first Monday night game.

the Panthers have Jake Delhomme, DeAngelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart, Steve Smith, Julius Peppers, Jon Beason and Thomas Davis and Muhsin Muhammad. Throw in Jordan Gross who is a Pro Bowl LT.

Maybe not as popular as the over hyped and over glorified Cowboys, then again....it's "Americas Team".

In the end, look for Dante Rosario to have a record night as the Dallas secondary is suspect and can be beaten.

Tony Romo does not play well when crying, so look for the Panthers to sit him down early and look to see some Romo whimpering on the sideline.

got me worried as a lot of people on here are taking carolina and the over! Hope we all win though! I think most of the public is on the Boys to win big (including a straw poll of the guys i know who are what I like to call "Sportscenter" football fans).

    GL everyone!

Yeah Mark.......I leaned the under until I realized that the Cowboys are going to lose.

Then the over was the easy choice.

Dallas gave up 21 to Tampa............so I see the Panthers putting up over 30 on them.

  21. #21

The over seems like the obvious choice, as these teams have totaled 48 (Carolina twice), 55 (dal v tb), and 64 (dal vs nyg).
94% percent of money on the over (60% on Carolina for what it's worth).

Seems too easy, doesn't it? Wilforth you're the king of going the other way! What do you think?

Bold pick - but i like the value Smack.
    Adding another angle:

This is Panthers chance to win their proud back. They will be fired. I think that Cowboys will be motivated in a bit different way: They are definately favourites, at home - in their new stadium. Imagine if they started 0-2 at home? I think they will be more affraid of loosing than anything else. The Panthers has the easy "dog-spot" in this game.

    Let's cash.
    - I take the points though.

ESPN is putting the "Hype" on Dallas right now.

    Default MNF

I think +9.5 points is way too many points to give on any Monday Night Football game.So far this year when the line has been over 9 for SNF & MNF (big games) the road "dog" has covered. These are all professional teams and when you throw in the mix a confrence game and MNF for some reason the "dogs" play well. Both teams play on a nuetral site cowboys are probably -2 or -2.5 you add 3 points because of home field the line should be -6, again i think +9.5 is a little high.Going to take the points and the under........BOL guys.......

Amen to the ESPN hype!!!! Right now, Dallas fans are hootin' and hollerin' and shootin' their guns off in the air (or into each other). Just ask a Dallas fan and they'll tell ya they're gonna go Panther huntin tonight!!!! That same 300 lb. panther is gonna slap the taste of Jessica Simpson right outta Romo's mouth. BTW, like your take on tonights game SMACKDOWN-GL

I think its funny.. I do agree that romo is a bit overrated, but you guys seem to think he's not even slightly a threat. honestly, I don't think he's that bad.. and what is it with classifying games as "must win"? just because a game is "must win" for a team, it doesn't mean that they're going to win. You guys don't think every game after each loss for the dolphins or lions in the previous losing seasons were "must win"? What about when mike nolan was coach for the niners before he got fired...
anyways, I'm just saying.. I think its funny how irrelevant some of the reasoning for the leans/picks on here. I mean you can make a case for both teams tonight..

carolina = must win to avoid 0-3 start
dallas = must win to avoid 0-2 start @ home in brand new stadium.

meh. im going with a pick based on the team with the colors I like most, and go with -8.5 dallas. good luck tonight guys ;-)

    Great post xraygord.

    Dallas is over-rated.

Add 21 to the Carolina score

But you can keep the Dallas score where it is.
