    Default CK & Sexymit's NFL Pre-Season Woodshed Jobs Week 3 8/24 through 8/30/09

Woodshed job is when you get whopped somethin fierce. The old thread had gotten packed with shit to the rafters so we had to start up some new-new thang right? Right. Well anyway I see some goodies for the week and here is where I'd like to go with my plays from what I have seen so far.

    Thursday 8/27/09

The size of the line says it all for me. The Dolphins are the real deal and a force to be wreckoned with in the NFL. With this being the third week most of the regulars will play extended minutes. The Bucs are not in their league at this time as they are in full rebuild mode. This is the classic tale of two ships headed in opposite directions. The line indicates that the linemaker thinks that the Bucs aren't really a prohibitive favorite, and the truth is they really shouldn't be favored at all.

    Dolphins+2.5

    Friday 8/28/09

The Packers look to be able to both defend well and also score well when necessary. Aaron Rodgers is proving the naysayers wrong and excelling on the gridiron. The Cardinals are no slouch, but I do think that with Lienert seeing more time in this game the Packers will get a few picks or a few advantages in field position. Gotta roll with the sharp money on this game.

    Green Bay+3

In what may turn into a laugher because of the coaching advantages the Patriots have, I suggest that this game be played early so as to get under the number. I don't anticipate Tom Terrific playing in the 2nd half, but it should be well over by then. I actually feel that the Redskins backup quarterback situation is better than the Patriots. So for this pick I am going with the Pats early. With there being a home dog in this game the rule of thumb is to roll with the under.

    New England-2.5 1st half (Projected)
    New England/Washington under 38

    Saturday 8/29/09

The Panthers have no business being favored in this game. The Ravens defense is just as fast as their offense and more talented too. Any points given to the Ravens in this game are too many.

    Ravens+3.5 -120 (Hook buy)

The Niners are getting a touchdown? No problem. I know what to do.

    Niners+7

The Colts are going to play Peyton for the whole first half. A peek back at their previous results reflects that the Colts play their starters more in game 3, and as a result have a sterling 6-1 ats record.

    Colts-2.5 1st half

    Sunday 8/30/09

Broncos turn the tables on the Bears. End of story. I can't play against a winless team at home

    Broncos-1

The Under in NE/WAS is golden.
Athough it's only preseason, Carolina has lost both games so far in preseason and their might be a sense of urgency for a coach on the hot seat in Fox plus two road games for them with this being their first home game. Baltimore is coming in on a short week.
Denver fits this scenario and they look good too.

CK, no love for the Rams tomorrow night. With the public all over the Bengals and the line staying stiff at -2.5. The Bengals have put up a measly 2 touchdown's in 2 games.

I also think Coach McNutt might play his starter a little longer to get the W, and not let Cutler get the best of him. And Cutler will be sitting by half time, with nothing to play for!

Is the Denver game reverse line movement? Opened at -1 now -3 and 55% consensus on the Bears. Do you still like the Broncos at -3?
Thanks for your insight and sharing...JJ

I have my Lions +10 on a teaser already but, I do like that Indy 1st half play. I see Indy getting a few scores against the DAUNTING LION D, however, I also see the Lions competing and moving the ball as well. In short:

    1st half plays: Indy -3 -125
    Over 21 even

CK I haven't been reading this thread lately mostly so as to keep away from the temptation of betting preseason.
I was wondering what you suggest for each play in units.

Also I see that bet365 isn't letting me buy points in the preseason. I don't know if they won't let me in the regular season either. I hope they do. I wasn't using them last year. If anyone knows I would appreciate it if they told me.

1 unit at the most unless we specify otherwise. But since its preseason and you have to have action, then maybe just a half a unit would be fine as well. But once the regular season starts we will start with a bankroll and keep running record.

Nice night boys. Good call on Baltimore. I had Carolina thinking they would play stronger. Looks like Baltimore is the real deal this year!

Niners poured the gas on the Cowboys' backs and are throwing matches at them. Ravens got it done, and the Falcons and Chargers went over as prescribed. Now time for next weeks action. Couple a juicers on the schedule. Most teams won't be playing the starters too long. So the teams where ain't shit decided yet are where the money is. I like

    Bengals
    Jags
    Bears
    Rams
    Pitt/Carolina under anything
    Seahawks

    And Friday I like

    Tampa Bay
