Default CK and MIT'S '09 Nfl Preseason Thread!

Well boys and girls, we are at it again! CK and I are going to do a football page also. This is just for the preseason, I'm sure we will start another thread when the regular season starts.

We will be playing College and Nfl and will probably be posting both plays in one thread.

    So here it goes:

    CK'S 30th Street Plays

    Thursday

    Ravens -3
    New England +3.5

    Friday

    Vikings +1.5
    Jets -3.5

    Saturday

    Chiefs -1
    Tampa +4
    Bills -2.5
    Seahawks +3.5

Out of curiosity, what kind of information do you look for when capping pre-season games vs. regular season?

Usually if you look at the teams that do good in the regular season, they don't do as good in the preseason. Real horrible teams usually do better in the preseason. That is not the only basis on games, but you know the public will be going after the teams like Dallas getting pts against Oakland for instance. Just things like that and the depth of the teams.

Yeah I didn't want to step on their toes but CK told me to start a preseason thread. At 1st he was just going to regular season! Bookies are going to be in trouble after football season!

Alright fruitcakes, the pre-season is upon us.

The Ravens were one of the teams that I kept riding in the playoffs last year and for good reason. They have a recipe fo success. Good defense and special teams, run the rock and play action pass for big gains. I love it! They are set to face the Redskins today on the gridiron. Now as far as matchups are concerned, it is difficult to go position by position to figure out what it s what. After all I am not a scientific bettor.

The Ravens have a lot to prove to their fans who were let down by the way that last years' campaign ended. Thy are stocked an deep at all positions even coaches. The Redskins are a much less stable team and their quarterback play is suspect at best. They can run the rock with the best of them with our boy Portis, but I don't expect for Washington's main weapon to be featured much tonight. That leaves a rag tag bunch of guys who aren't in a position tosucceed against the Ravens defense. Tough hard fought game, but the total will go over in my opinion.

    Ravens-3

New England is in a crossroads of sorts and at the helm we have Tom Brady he of the golden arm. My intuition tells me that he will be happier to hit the field than he ever has before as a professional. New weapon Fred Taylor is not a bad change of pace from Maroney. Defensively these two teams are evenly matched in my opinion, and Jim Johnsons' ghost will be present on the field. I expect the veterans to be flying all over the field in his memory. The only thing is that they won't be on the field all night long. the Pats proved they were a deep team last year by going 11-5 in Tom Terrific's absence. This year they will be dynamite, and tonight is just the souding horn.

    Patriots+3.5

Cowboys/Raiders under 34.5 (This is the only one that worries me)
    Ravens-3
    Pats+3
    Ravens/Skins over 31.5

Put nothing over $25.00 on this. It's only for fun!

Rollin with you guys on that Pats pick and the Under in the Raiders game. I like the Raiders giving up points too......I haven't looked at the public percentages on this game, but I can imagine 75% would be on the Cowboys getting 3 points.

Vikings are now favored in that game. Too bad no one jumped on it when I did to get the cushion. However, we're in the same car, because the Vikings still have to win basically for us to get paid. I am anxious to see how their defense will play with the Williams boys in the middle. Peyton may not play much and I do think that the Colts back ups are set as well. However, there is spirited competition for the Vikings starting job.
