Money Clip Chiefs sign Matt Cassel to multi-year, $60M contract

$60,000,000, about half of which is guaranteed.

I don't know how I feel about this. On one hand, he's obviously insanely lucky that Tom Brady got hurt and it allowed him a chance to exhibit his skills. On the other, it'd really take a talentless hack of epic proportions to not put up comparable numbers to Cassel when equipped with that star-studded New England offensive cast. Plus with the best coach in the game in your ear all the time, and having observed Tom Brady for a couple of years, there was really no way Cassel could've "blew it".

My point is, none of the above really indicates to us that Cassel is worth the kind of deal the Chiefs threw at him, just feels like a desperate move from a team with a lot more problems than the QB position.

Reminds me of when Steve Bono was the starting QB in KC. A guy who was the most perfect backup QB ever becoming a starter and we know how that went. Could be the same here.

I think Cassel will do better than Bono, but this team is far worse than those Chiefs teams.

personally, without tony G, bowe will be covered and cassel is gonna have a hard time. Its easy to throw to moss and welker with one of the best olines in the league
