My name is John Ryan and I will be providing my 5* Monster Plays and an occasional rare 20* Lock Release here on this thread. I have been handicapping all sports for 18 years and have done particularly well with the NFL. You may have seen me on SBR and already be familiar with my work, research, and methodologies. This season I will be providing picks with extensive research that shows you why I am on a given play. This will undoubtedly promote strong discussions and debate, but hopefully this will be learning experience for all of you. I often think of the movie Wall Street where Michael Douglas (Gorden Gekko) states that 'Information is the most powerful commodity I know". Well, I fully agree with that simple fact and my goal is to provide winning information to you for the NFL regular season.

To start things off I am on the St. Louis Rams 9-11 and I am sure this game and pick will promote a lot of discussions. I can tell you one thing right off the top, Vick is going to need protection despite his speed and athleticism. The 'A' gap of the Eagles offensive line is going to be blitzed hard and there is little risk for Rams to then become vulnerable to any sort of power running game by the Eagles. And then there is the lack of chemistry on defensive, especially with the linebacker corp. I will be sending more data, systems, and game situations.

I have no idea who John Ryan is, but he is saying he is taking STL in week 1, posting the play well before gametime, and not telling anyone to go to any website. Thus far he has mearly posted a play in this thread. While threatening to use the word LOCK on future plays may be annoying, I have no idea how anyone could consider this spam thus far.

The Eagles will HAVE to blitz zas well. They have too many holes in the middle of the field attributed to a vastly over rated line backer corp. More to come.

Ok, Happy Labor Day to everyone. I have some more data for your review for the play on the Rams.

This is an 'extra' play that I like quite a bit playing the 'under' for the first half line. It has produced a 40-15 'under' mark for 73% winners since 1983. Play 'under' the posted total with road teams using the first half total that was an elite offense averaging 385 or more total yards per game. I truly believe that the Eagles will misfire on offense and will have critical turnovers. I also see the Rams running game controlling the tempo of the game and also serving to keep the scoring low for the first two quarters. The Eagles are very vulnerable to the run and this also implies that the majority of action will take place between the 20's. Rams will want to establish the run and shorten the game so that they have a lead or a chance to win the game in the fourth.

I am expecting a number to be posted at 33. This is the type of game that may see the public betting 'OVER', which obviously could push this first half line to 33 1/2. I rarely recommend patience in placing an early wager, but in this case let's see what happens tomorrow. I think there is a reasonable shot at booking a 33 1/2 line..

if this were the real John Ryan he'd give us a trend like: teams at home in the season opener who covered the last 6 games the year prior vs. teams who went under in their last 6 games the year prior, are 11-5 ATS in the last 20 seasons
