I think hes asking about a "3way" bet as is often offered in soccer. instead of your standard ML bet where you can have two possible outcomes win/loss (or a push, i.e. no action), a "3 way bet" has 3 possible outcomes win/loss/draw (only on a draw in this case you loose instead of pushing). So you get better
odds for taking a side because there is no push on a draw, and likewise you can also bet the game to end in a draw.
This type of bet does not apply to a lot of other mainstream sports (or anything in which a winner must be decided - such as in the playoffs). Soccer has aggregate scoring sometimes as well so this 3way wager is often used or available.
