Default John Fina: New Orleans +1½ vs. Vermont

New Orleans +1½ vs. Vermont

Just in time to keep you from having to watch election returns all night, the college hoops season tips off in New Orleans as the Privateers host the Vermont Catamounts.

Today Vermont will be on the road as they take on New Orleans. We will side with New Orleans.

It's already known that Vermont has a solid defense. However, the New Orleans offense has enough talent to beat Vermont. One offensive key for New Orleans today will be 6-10, 260-pound center Ben Elias. Many did not get to witness Elias's true talent last season as he only played two games. However, this monster of a player can control the down-low position.

Not only will the New Orleans offense control down-low, but they will also control the perimeter. New Orleans is lead by star SG Bo McCalebb who only played four games last season due to a broken wrist. But when he did play, he averaged 22.6 points per game. We know he still has talent from last season because in the preseason he averaged 27 points per game.

All of this talent is followed by PG Jamie McNeilly who received 3rd-team All-SBC accolades. The bottom line: This New Orleans team has enough talent to destroy Vermont's defense. We will side with the better team at home. Take New Orleans!

Play: New Orleans +1½

This write-up doesn't mention it, but it's worth noting that the game is being played on the University of Maryland's home court in College Park, MD...

New Orleans +1.5 for me.
