Basketball Parlay of the Day Contest - Tuesday, 4/8/08

Starting Tuesday (April 1), we will start a new April Hoops Parlay Contest with a prize of $250 account at 5 Dimes, 3 time roll-over. Last place will receive a $25 5 Dimes account with a 3 time roll over. If there is a tie for last place in both units and game-by-game record (15 parlay minimum), there will be NO last place prize.

Before participating, players must PM their 5 Dimes account ID to SBRforum Staff

1. Check in the NBA BASKETBALL HANDICAPPING FORUM each day for the daily thread to be posted by LT Profits. Lines will be posted by 1:00 p.m. (ET) each day. Plays may be posted before that, but the official posted lines will be used for grading.

2. Posted spreads and totals are the only eligible plays for grading, no Money Lines or Halves allowed. NBA, NCAA Men's and beginning April 1, NCAA Women's games included.

3. Two-game parlay picks, laying 10 to win 26. Post entire parlay at same time, no open parlays.

4. Here’s the catch: Your play must include a write-up! The write-up does not have to be long, just a sentence or two about why you are making your play. If need be, please refer to prior month's contests for examples.

5. Entries that are past-post or do not have analysis for both games will be NO ACTION. Once your two-team parlay has been posted, you CANNOT change either play. Any edited post will count as a LOSS! If you make a mistake (such as leaving out "Over" or "Under" or not clearly stating your selection), need to add analysis or wish to enter corrected lines, do so in a separate post. This holds true even if the first game on the schedule did not tip off yet. It also holds true for past-posts and entries with no analysis. It does NOT hold true for posts that are not parlay selections, i.e. standings, commentary posts or congratulatory posts.

6. And here’s the fine print:

• Must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
• One entry per household and IP address.
• Must use lines posted in daily thread by LT Profits
• Maximum one parlay pick per day, minimum 15 parlay plays required to be eligible for monthly prize.
• Tiebreaker for first place - Win % of individual parlay legs. If still tied, combatants will carry on a head-to-head parlay match until winner determined.
• All decisions made by SBR with regards to this contest are final.
• SBR employees eligible to participate but are not eligible to win the monthly prize.

KNICKS +11: The Pistons are expected to give their regulars limited limits the rest of the regular season, sometimes resting them entirely. Even when at full strength, the Knicks are incredibly 2-1 ATS against Detroit this season, and they are just one point from being 3-0 (lost 98-86 at +11.5).

SUNS/GRIZZLIES UNDER 227.5: Yes, these are two Over teams, but this total still seems a tad inflated. The last five Memphis games have averaged 216.6 points while the last five Phoenix contests have averaged 223.4.

Sacramento +11: GS just playing lousy right now, taking the points.

#386 Tenn -1.5 : the Lady General leads her Vols to a victory, because she is the best womens coach ever, and Candace Parker is the Bomb, and the Vols are the defending champs.

#512 N.O. -5 : the Hornets are still taking names and marking them down, the Hornets are on a mission to to prove they are the best in the west.

521 Sacramento Kings +11 - no pressure on the kings, all the pressure on warriors to win. reminds me of the denver game the other day

Atl Ind 212 Under: ind will try to implement some defense against atlanta for them to win. atlanta also have habbit of scoring less on the road compared at home

Bos Mil 195 Over: without the big three of boston defense is not that tight. mil would now be able to score and being at home they would exploit this lower defense to score a lot. for bos the bench does not want to loose, thus for them to win they would also score.

can i change bos mil 195 to under?? if i can here's an explanation.

the bench of bos is not a scoring machine and maybe mil won't be inspired to win since beating bos w/o the big three is pointless.

MN/Charlotte Over 199.5: Neither team will play defense. Not even a basketball game here, just a casual shooting contest.

Portland Trailblazers Under 201
Blazers run a much slower game than LAL, and at home I expect them to control the temp of the game. As long as they don't get blown out from the start, they'll control the pace and I expect an UNDER.

Miami Heat Under 183½
The Heat don't have anybody capable of putting up huge scoring, and the Bulls can probably just take this game easily. The Bulls are not a blow out team so if they get a lead they'll stick with it comfortably and slow down. In the Bulls last 5 they are averaging UNDER 100 ppg and the Heat UNDER 80 ppg.
