Default College Basketball Season Long Thread

Dedicating my time to one sport this year, let's see how this turns out.

    Tonight one play

    1* on Murray St. +14

Murray St. is a solid team that I can see sticking around. Murray st. returning alot of their top scorers. Cal doesn't have the big man presence that would be needed to blow this team out. Let's start the season with a win.

agree with this but Cal should be able to win by at least double digits at home.

    For Wednesday:

    2* on Detroit +18

Cal did not impress me last night while keeping it close with the racers. Detroit might surprise some folks this year. They are certainly not the same team as last year. I like the matchup here and have not been impressed with Cal. 18 will be a ton here and Cal could be looking ahead to Syracuse.

    Record
    1-0
    +1 unit

had Murray State last night but am loving Cal. Why isn't Detroit the same team as last year?

a 6'10 guy who MAY NOT even be worth a shit makes one of the WORST teams in the HORIZON league a formidable opponent?

just wondering, so how big a factor is Holman in your reasoning?

  9. #9

    Default

Not a huge factor as he is an unknown like you said. It's more a bet against Cal. I think Murray state exposed what you need to do to stick around with Cal. Play those two guards and let the rest of the team beat you. Detroit is watching tape, what is cal doing? Cal is thinking about Syracuse. Sure cal wins by 12, but I will take the points.

Tonight gonna go with an odd ball:

    1* Georgia St. +10

NC State has a lot of new players, expect this to be a feeling out process for them, this will stay close. If this was the 3rd or 4th game in the season NC state would be favored by 18-20.

    Record
    1-1 (-1.2 units)
    2* 0-1
    1* 1-0

Alright, Let's get those units back...

    2* purdue -19.5
Purdue returning everyone, the matadors having to replace half of their scoring. This one shouldn't be close.
    1* Ball St. -1.5
Valparaiso is horrible. Last time they played in 2007 Valpo won in Valpo. Ball st. gets it done at home.
    1* new mexico st. +7
St. mary's not the same team as last year and NMST returning alot of there players
    1* San Diego +1
Don't have much to say about this one, just like the home court advantage. Should be a good one.

    Record
    1-2
    2* 0-1
    1* 1-1
    -2.3 units

Not a bad night last night!

    2* Southern Illinois -14

I think Sothern Illinois is much improved and will be the better defensive squad here. Look for Southern Illinois to be better able to score with Tony Freeman coming over from Iowa.

    1* Butler -13

Butler returns everyone and will be going against a Curry-less Davidson. Howard should be a beast this year with another year under his belt.

    Record
    4-3
    2* 1-1
    1* 3-2

    Adding:

    1* on Nevada -12

Nevada's starting five are going to be very good this year. Nevada has changed coaches and I feel they will do much better under Coach Carter. Babbitt should go wild on Montana St.

    1* Colorado St. -15.5

I like how they played in the first game of the season and expect more of the same. This should be blowout city as Winston-Salem is no good.

1* on Cal State Fullerton +17

UCLA has no right laying this many points. This team has a lot of work to do to be any good. Cal State Fullerton will stay within this number.

    2* Temple +9

Temple is going to be good this year and Georgetown is going to be overrated this year. Look for a close game and a possible upset here.
