hmmm im a newbie too when it comes to betting so im in no way what u would call an expert. and i could be very much wrong on what im about to say here. but here goes it.
u seem to bet the same amt of units on either straights or parlays. and when u lose ur straight bets u lose ur parlays automatically as they are the same picks. given when u hit, u hit big. however itz never a good idea to parlay (altho i do it - rr parlays tho

).
so, what if u bet heavy on ur straights and do 1/5 on ur parlays so dat way if u hit ur top pick/s ur on the plus side even if u lose ur parlays. i mean itz ur top pick/s! u shld earn some units on them, right? and if ur bet-heavy top pick/s doesnt hit, u shld be willing to accept a loss coz let's face it, u screwed up on ur game.
straight betting is the way to go. esp if u have the dough.

parlaying decreases ur chances of winning. datz why i take it easy on my parlays. 1/8 to half the most of what i normally risk.
so here's me.... since i do straights and rr parlays, i try to do some math on the outcomes. for example, today i have celtics, magic, bulls & suns. celtics being my top pick - ml/straight bet on it for 10 units. then i parlayed magic, bulls & suns for 2 units. if my top pick hits and my parlay loses, im still up 8 units - and if at the same time my parlay hits then im a big winner! but if my top pick loses then basically i screwed up on my game. i consider it a 'loss' day. now if my parlay hits tho, dat saves my day.
juzz my 2 cents and something for u to think abt.

...and like i sed, im a newbie too and in no way an expert. i could be totally wrong on saying those things. but that's what have been working for me, so far. *fingers crossed*
