Basketball Parlay of the Day Contest - Sunday, 3/2/08
Listen up, basketball experts. Starting Saturday (Mar 1) we will commence with the March Hoops Parlay Contest with the monthly grand prize a 22” widescreen LCD monitor. The rules are simple:
1. Check in the NBA BASKETBALL HANDICAPPING FORUM each day for the daily thread to be posted by LT Profits. Lines will be posted by 1:00 p.m. (ET) each day. Plays may be posted before that, but the official posted lines will be used for grading.
2. Posted spreads and totals are the only eligible plays for grading. Both NBA and NCAA games included.
3. Two-game parlay picks, laying 10 to win 26. Post entire parlay at same time, no open parlays.
4. Here’s the catch: Your play must include a write-up, doesn’t have to be long, just a sentence or two about why you’re making your play. Here’s a THREAD from last year’s contest to be used for an example.
5. Entries that are past-post or do not have analysis for both games will be NO ACTION. Once your two-team parlay has been posted, you CANNOT change either play. Any edited post will count as a LOSS! If you make a mistake (such as leaving out "Over" or "Under" or not clearly stating your selection), need to add analysis or wish to enter corrected lines, do so in a seperate post. This holds true even if the first game on the schedule did not tip off yet. It also holds true for past-posts and entries with no analysis. It does NOT hold true for posts that are not parlay selections, i.e. standings, commentary posts or congratulatory posts.
6. And here’s the fine print:
- Must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
- One entry per household and IP address.
- Must use lines posted in daily thread by LT Profits
- Maximum one parlay pick per day, minimum 15 parlay plays needed to be eligible for monthly prize.
- Tiebreaker - Win % of individual parlay legs. If still tied, combatants will carry on a head-to-head parlay match until winner determined.
- All decisions made by SBR with regards to this contest are final.
- SBR employees eligible to participate but are not eligible to win the monthly prize.
- Residents outside the Continental US may be awarded the cash value prize instead of the monitor.

Nuggets +4.5 -107 ( i think they are better tahn Houston without Yao. I capped them at -1.5. They will win SU.
Bucks +5.5 -105 No way Indian should be a 5.5 fav over this hard working Bucks team. Redd, Williams, Bogut...they have a nice young core. They may win SU too.

Denver +pts.
No Yao, I can see this one coming down to the wire.
IU +pts.
I think IU has now had enough time to get adusted to the head coach. MSU even at home is just not that good this year.

#507 Tor. -4.5 : i know Bosh is probably out for this game, but the Raptors still have Parker, Bargnani, and Moon and with the Bobcats missing Wallace inside this should be a rout. the Raptors have pretty much owned Charlotte lately.
Side note: i hate being on a team with this much one-sided action, but i really like Tor. in this spot.
#526 Tenn. -13.5 : no Patterson, means no chance foe UK. Smith and Chism should have a field day down low for the Vols, UK has nothing to counter with down low except that stick of a player Stevenson. Vols get revenge for losing at Rupp Arena.

Villanova +11, another sucker bet, I'll take the points, again, the line looks to good to be true

Nets +5.5 (or whatever the line is)
Nets/Spurs UNDER 183.5
Reasoning: Spurs on second half of back-to-back is the kiss of death. As much as I dislike this Nets team, I actually expect them to possibly win outright. The under worries me because of Harris's ability to break Tony down, but I think the Spurs misfire enough to come in under 183.5. Feeling a 91-87 Nets win.

Indiana +5.5 Indiana dominated these Spartans at home with DJ White sitting for most of the game with an injury. With White healthy, this one could get ugly for the Izzone crowd.
UCLA -5 Arizona's very weak D will have no answer for the beast that is Kevin Love.

Boston Celtics -10 -- last time was a blowout and the celtics were on the road, this could get ugly with Boston at home.
Portland/Golden state under 211 -- Last two games have pegged 200 on both occasions and even if they go over that I dont see them hitting 211.

Ok first time posting on this thread, but been watching for a long time.
DAL +6.5: I like the way Dallas has been playing lately. Inconsistent on the road, but I think they keep it close in LA today. Historically they play the Lakeshow tough and I think they have a chance to win this outright.
NOH/WAS over 193.5: Both teams shooting fairly well and NOH looks like they have regained the form that landed them the best record in the west before the break. NOH can put up over 100 pretty easy the way CP3 is playing right now. I think this goes over with no problem.

FAIRFIELD +9: The Stags are just too hot to be getting this many points, even from a good Rider team. Fairfield has won seven straight SU, they are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 road games and they're 4-1 ATS in the last five head-to-head meetings.
LOYOLA MARYLAND +3.5: The Greyhounds have one of the best road ATS records in the country over the last few years, and they are 9-6 ATS on the road this year. More importantly, they're 8-2 SU in their last 10 games overall.

Mav's +6.5 This is a must win game for them.
Seattle +6.5 I know Minnesota is at home but they are a lousy team and shouldn't give this many points.

Golden State -6: Portland got a rare win against a good team last time out, but that was at home against a team due a loss. I like Golden State by double-digits in this one; just too much offense for Portland.
Denver-Houston O206: Denver doesn't play any defense, and without Yao -- sort of like the Suns without Shaq -- I expect the Rockets to run more and also allow more on the defensive end. Denver can, and usually does, put up 100 on anyone.

UCLA -5.5 (at Arizona)
Arizona has not been rebounding well and has a soft D. USC beat them by 12 in their last home game. UCLA firing on all cylinders.
Oregon -10 (at Oregon State)
I'm just fading Oregon State here. They lose by an average of 9.1. They have only been within 9 or less points of a win twice in conference play. I think Oregon cleans their clock.

New Jersey +5. Spurs are very poor this season when playing a third game in four nights, when the final two games are back-to-back.
New Orleans -6.5. Hornets are off wins over Phoenix and Utah, and still have the memory of a loss to the Wiz fresh on their minds.

Mavericks +6.5 Too many point to be giving a Mavs team that is in a tough battle for the playoffs.
Nuggets +5.5 Denver is on the outside of the playoff picture looking in and badly need this win. Without Yao Denver is the better team whether they are on the road or at home.
