Default Basketball Parlay of the Day Contest - Wednesday, 2/6/08

Listen up, basketball experts. Starting Friday (Feb 1) we will commence with the February Hoops Parlay Contest with the monthly grand prize a 22” widescreen LCD monitor. The rules are simple:

1. Check in the NBA BASKETBALL HANDICAPPING FORUM each day for the daily thread to be posted by LT Profits. Lines will be posted by 1:00 p.m. (ET) each day. Plays may be posted before that, but the official posted lines will be used for grading.

2. Posted spreads and totals are the only eligible plays for grading. Both NBA and NCAA games included.

3. Two-game parlay picks, laying 10 to win 26. Post entire parlay at same time, no open parlays.

4. Here’s the catch: Your play must include a write-up, doesn’t have to be long, just a sentence or two about why you’re making your play. Here’s a THREAD from last year’s contest to be used for an example.

5. Entries that are past-post or do not have analysis for both games will be NO ACTION. Once your two-team parlay has been posted, you CANNOT change either play. Any edited post will count as a LOSS! If you make a mistake (such as leaving out "Over" or "Under" or not clearly stating your selection), need to add analysis or wish to enter corrected lines, do so in a seperate post. This holds true even if the first game on the schedule did not tip off yet. It also holds true for past-posts and entries with no analysis. It does NOT hold true for posts that are not parlay selections, i.e. standings, commentary posts or congratulatory posts.

6. And here’s the fine print:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
  • One entry per household and IP address.
  • Must use lines posted in daily thread by LT Profits
  • Maximum one parlay pick per day, minimum 15 parlay plays needed to be eligible for monthly prize.
  • Tiebreaker - Win % of individual parlay legs. If still tied, combatants will carry on a head-to-head parlay match until winner determined.
  • All decisions made by SBR with regards to this contest are final.
  • SBR employees eligible to participate but are not eligible to win the monthly prize.
  • Residents outside the Continental US may be awarded the cash value prize instead of the monitor.

768 Seton Hall +1.5 - seton hall is square on the bubble and can get a big w by beating the irish who struggle on the road.

792 North Carolina -4 - even without lawson i like the heels to blow past the dukies at home.

Minnesota -5: Northwestern could not beat a good JV team right now. They are really bad... Minnesota got a road win at UM and should cover easily.

Portland Trailblazers -5.5: They should be good and pissed off looking for a statement game vs a Bulls team that is not very good on the road.

802 Delaware -2 -- Delaware has lost 3 in a row, but they are still an improved team after making some personell changes. They apply to a 31-13-1 ATS angle that plays on teams the have lost 3 in a row.

729 Connecticut +2˝ -- Connecticut has won 3 in a row and they apply to a 36-18 ATS angle that won for me with Loyola Maryland yesterday. Syracuse is just 2-9-1 ATS after 3 straight wins and spread wins in recent seasons.

I am taking Duke - I think that they will not be beaten by more than 4 against UNC.

I am also taking the Lakers at -3.5 - did anyone see the game last night? Seems like a steal.

GL all.

TULSA +9: This line is down to 8.5 in real life after opening up at 9.5. Tulsa's starting five is good enough to beat Houston on any given night. The problem is that the Golden Hurricanes have no bench, but with this big spread, I'll take my chances.

BULLS +5.5: The Blazers were a nice story, but they are coming back to the pack, going 2-4 SU last six overall including 2-3 SU last five at home, and they are on an 0-6 ATS skid. The Bulls get revenge for an overtime loss this season to Portland in Chicago.

Heat +16 --The heat are bad, but I think they keep it within 16 in this one.....That is a huge spread....

Bucks +14 -- Im going with the 2 underdogs today...The mavs have been inconsistant this year and although I think they will win I think it will be closer than 14....

Minnesota -5.5 Should be a pretty easy win againest the last place team in Big 10. With a nice team effort on the road Minn should take this one by 10

LA Lakers -4 Even tho the lakers played last night. This should be an easy spread to cover. Team is shooting really good with fisher and farmer bombing away. Gasol helps out alot to. Lakers by double digits

Lakers -3.5 - not gonna loose playing great basketball right now and usually teams that go home after a road trip tend to ease up since they are home and comfortable.

i got the spurs at -4 last night as soon as the line went up and its up to 7 on some books...love them here playing a team probably without butler...theres no way they show energy after blowing that huge lead last night

Lakers - 3.5. LA is 5-1 in their last six back-to-backs.

NJ/Orlando under 202. Various trends lean this way including 4-0 heads up, 5-2 with NJ back to back, and a combined 15-3 as large spreads.

Wisconsin -7.5... Two straight huge wins over Minnesota and Indiana by 10+ points has shut up many of the Badgers doubters.. Iowa showing an improvement with recent win over Ohio st. and 1 pt. loss at Purdue.. Wisc pulls away in 2nd half..
SMU +31...I hate playing these crazy spreads...but 31 is a lot of points to give to anybody..

Utah +2.5
Utah/Denver Over 219

I think the Jazz should win this one outright by 5-8 points. Denver has some questionable players including Camby. The point total should go high in the first place, and if Camby doesn't play, Denver's D will slack, and Utah should roll over them.

LA Lakers under 203.5

Kobe has a dislocated finger and his effectiveness on offense is limited. Gasol is still learning the triangle offense and Lakers are playing back to back games with a banged up bench. Hawks are playing good defense and they will slow the game down enough to have a chance to win.

Orlando Magic under 202

Nets are not a scoring machine and are playing back to back games which means a slow tempo with many missed shots. Orlando will concentrate on defense tonight against a bad shooting Nets team.

Phx in a weird spot after the possible trade. Phx also has not been playing very hard lately and NO really wants to bounce back.

718 NO/PHX Under 214
I think this game will be close and kept under this high number.

UConn +2.5
One of the hottest teams in the country right now... The games between them and the Cuse are always close...

Duke +4
I think Duke will win outright tonight... Either way this game should be close as well!

LT Profits: Don't know what happened but between yesterday and today I vanished from the parlay stats. I was 0-1-0 going into yesterday, but I won my parlay so I should be at 1-1-0 +16 on there, but I'm not there at all. Thanks!

739 Minnesota U -5
Minnesota at the only D2 team in the big ten... gonna roll all over them.

727 Ohio -3˝
Ohio is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games
Ohio is 6-1 ATS in its last 7 games
While eastern michigan has been on a lil losing streak.

gizmo,

You are there, I accidentally deleted the "giz" from your name. I fixed it.

Also, you are 0-1-1, -1.00. You had a WP yesterday, not a win.
