Listen up, basketball experts. Starting Wednesday (Jan 2) we will commence with a Hoops Parlay Contest with the monthly grand prize a 22” widescreen LCD monitor. The rules are simple:

1. Check in the NBA BASKETBALL HANDICAPPING FORUM each day for the daily thread to be posted by LT Profits. Lines will be posted by 11:00 a.m. (ET) each day. Plays may be posted before that, but the official posted lines will be used for grading.

2. Posted spreads and totals are the only eligible plays for grading. Both NBA and NCAA games included.

3. Two-game parlay picks, laying 10 to win 26. Post entire parlay at same time, no open parlays.

4. Here’s the catch: Your play must include a write-up, doesn’t have to be long, just a sentence or two about why you’re making your play. Here’s a THREAD from last year’s contest to be used for an example.

5. And here’s the fine print:

• One entry per household and IP address.
  
• Must use lines posted in daily thread by LT Profits
  
• Maximum one parlay pick per day, minimum 15 parlay plays needed to be eligible for monthly prize.
  
• Tiebreaker - Win % of individual parlay legs. If still tied, combatants will carry on a head-to-head parlay match until winner determined.
  
• All decisions made by SBR with regards to this contest are final.
  
• SBR employees eligible to participate but are not eligible to win the monthly prize.

I will have to continue to play one of my money makers. NC has covered 11 in a row ATS. This looks like a tough match-up, but I predict that NC will beat Clemson by 10 points. This will be my "McRich Play 'O the Day". I went 1-4 in NCAABB yesterday, but my "McRich Play 'O the Day" of Kansas came through.

Ohio State vs. Northwestern
Northwestern FT % is 50 % on the road. OSU averages almost 2-1 in the rebounding category. OSU is playing really well right now and this game is at home.

Iona, at home, beat Loyola MD by 24 on 12/7. Is home court worth 28 to Loyola MD??? Iona is 20-3 SU in last 23 against Loyola MD, and 4-1 ATS in last 5 on the road at Loyola MD. Loyola MD lost at home to Fairfield on 1/4.

1* Drake -7 (or whatever) (at Evansville)
I've been riding Drake a little this season. They are a top 30 team -- the best team in Iowa --and here they are facing mediocre competition. Drake had solid road wins in December at Iowa and Wichita State. Evansville has had two losses in conference play (Indiana St. at home, and N. Iowa away) in last 2. This looks like no time to get off the Drake wagon.

Toronto couldn't quite hang on with the Pistons the other day, but I like their chances of beating Cleveland today. I know the Cavs are generally an underish team, but Toronto at home will likely push up the tempo a bit and Cavs should hang on close enough most of the game. I think there's good likelyhood this game goes over the posted total if this game goes according to Raptors game plan.

Northwestern +16 or so - Ohio State fans are supposed to be enthused by an 11 a.m. basketball game against one of the dregs of the conference with their team playing for the football national championship tomorrow? Northwestern may not be good, but they slow it down, and a disinterested Ohio State team - and one that already isn't very good offensively - could really struggle to pull away.

Auburn +10 or so - Auburn is a bad basketball team. Xavier is a very good basketball team. Thus the line. But I'm just not sure the X-Men can match the intensity or performance of their games at home against Kansas State and Virginia. This has always been a team that is much, much better at home, and now they are asked to win by double digits on the road against a team that is equal athletically? I think that's a bit much.

Alright, well we bounced back with a win yesterday. Let’s make it two in a row!

Toronto -4.0
Analysis: Lebron is awesome isn’t he? I mean he is just really REALLY good! Too bad he can’t play the Raptors all by himself. Unfortunately for him, Toronto has the better overall record at 17-16 (versus Cleveland’s 16-17 record) and they are 8-7 at home, while Cleveland is a poor 6-11 on the road. Take the Raptors to cover the spread here.

Cornell +29.5
Analysis: Poor little Cornell is going to play against Duke with the Cameron Crazies at their side. What kind of chance does an Ivy League team have against such a powerful ACC program? Well, I will tell you. Cornell isn’t cannon fodder at 6-4. They have already played in a big time atmosphere when they lost by only 16 at Syracuse. So the question is: Is Duke almost 2 times more talented than Syracuse. And the answer is: NO WAY! Is Duke going to beat this team by double digits? You can bet on it! Are they going to beat them by more than some teams score in an entire game? NOPE! Take the Big Red and the points here.

San Antonio Spurs -7, L.A Clippers +7 (Spurs -7) - Spurs are to experienced of a team and one of the highest ranked teams in the league next to Boston and Detroit. I think the NY Knicks just got lucky to stay within 4 points the other night so close in the 4th quarter against San Antonio. Tonight S.A Rebounds with a win by more then 7 points. Coach Pop wouldn't like seeing his team come so close to losing in the 4th to teams that are at the bottom of the barrel

Pacers/Lakers - Over 215.5 - Just a gut feeling that this one is going over. Lakers are a high scoring team, fast paced and like to score quickly. Indiana will need to keep up to pace with L.A in this fast paced contest
