Hoops Parlay Contest
Listen up, basketball experts. Starting Tuesday (Jan 2) we will commence with a Hoops Parlay Contest with the monthly grand prize a 22” widescreen LCD monitor. The rules are simple:
1. Check in the NBA BASKETBALL HANDICAPPING FORUM each day for the daily thread to be posted by LT Profits. Lines will be posted by 11:00 a.m. (ET) each day. Plays may be posted before that, but the official posted lines will be used for grading.
2. Posted spreads and totals are the only eligible plays for grading. Both NBA and NCAA games included.
3. Two-game parlay picks, laying 10 to win 26. Post entire parlay at same time, no open parlays.
4. Here’s the catch: Your play must include a write-up, doesn’t have to be long, just a sentence or two about why you’re making your play. Here’s a THREAD from last year’s contest to be used for an example.
5. And here’s the fine print:
- One entry per household and IP address.
- Must use lines posted in daily thread by LT Profits
- Maximum one parlay pick per day, minimum 15 parlay plays needed to be eligible for monthly prize.
- Tiebreaker - Win % of individual parlay legs. If still tied, combatants will carry on a head-to-head parlay match until winner determined.
- All decisions made by SBR with regards to this contest are final.
- SBR employees eligible to participate but are not eligible to win the monthly prize.
- Residents outside the Continental US may be awarded the cash value prize instead of the monitor.
Make sure to get in on the fun from the start. Check back on Tuesday, Jan 2, to start showing off your hardwood handicapping skills

Glad to see this back for many reasons....thanks LT & SBR.
Lots of fun & good $ making opportunities for people who follow these parlays, anyone could've retired on Stump's parlays alone last year.

Through March. Each month is a new contest, so three contests in all.
Also, the first contest begins on Wednesday, Jan. 2, not Tuesday.

Damn I love contests. I don't have a contest problem or anything, I could easily not participate if I wanted to, I just enjoy them. Bring it on! Contests! Love them.

just a question, will the winner be the one with the most money at the end, or the one with the best write ups

It is by units earned. If leaders are tied in units at end of month, tiebreaker is winning percentage on a game-by-game basis (not percent of parlays won).

so each parlay is wagering 10 units to win 26 so one parlay win and one parlay lost would result in + 16 units? Sorry but im just a little confused on the scoring. . . Thanks. . .

Yes, that's exactly right Louisville.

L.T,
I just want to say first, your doing a great job on this contest,I know it takes up alot of your time. What I wanted to ask you though was, what if one side of the parlay pushes?Does that just count as a miss?keep up the good job.

charlie,
Push + Loss = Loss
Push + Win = +9.00 (Straight bet on winner at 11/10)
