Default Cavs @ Spurs game 2

I see game 2 to be a repeat of game 1.
Anyone think this statement is false? Any thoughts are appreciated.

I don't think game 2 will be quite as ugly as game 1. I mean, SA brought their C game and Cleveland brought their D game... I think you'll see each team bring their respective B and C games and yes, I see the Spurs covering unless that back-door gets involved, as it almost did in game 1. The Spurs lack that killer instinct to just put away teams when they should. They ease up a little and coast to a victory, but I'd like to see them really finish games properly. Remember the MJ Bulls beating Utah by a score of like 96-54 in one of the finals games? That's what SA should attempt to do: completely demoralize the Cavs. I think an easy bet is to tease SA with the Under, but a more profitable bet is either an SA/Under parlay, or the S.A. side or under straight up. Problem is, I think those are both VERY public plays at this point. The only good thing about Cleveland cutting that lead to single digits and flirting with a cover is that it could keep a few people on the Cav bandwagon. This is a 5 game series at most.

I would like to think that is a 5 game series as well, but the 3 straight in Cleveland lead me to believe that SA could seal it in 6.

Yes, I like it. Even barring a high scoring 1st quarter of 48-53 (which is quite possible in game 2), I think you're liable to see a sub-40 point quarter (maybe even 2) and a couple of 41-44 point quarters... You don;t have to worry about OT killing your Under either, because this one isn't going to be close enough for OT to ever be a realistic option. Again, I like SA -7.5 and the Under of 177.5 without buying points on either, but the Spurs' lack of a killer instinct always worries me with spreads of 6.5+ even in games of this magnitude...

Sportsmaster,
Personally, I think S.A. will force the tempo a little bit in the first quarter (a little faster than everyone thinks they'll play) just to combat any coaching changes that Mike Brown might make (if he's capable of making changes, that is). If there's going to be a high scoring quarter, it will be the first quarter. I wouldn't touch the 1st half +/- because all it takes is one quarter of bad officiating getting a team in the bonus early in either quarter 1 or 2 and your under for the half is shot. If you think it's going to play out like game 1, then obviously the under is the play. I just think that Pop will make some sort of preemptive change that forces a little bit of a quicker tempo in game 2. Also wouldn't be surprised to see Gibson get the majority of the minutes at PG for Cleveland. On one hand, that prevents a lot of the Parker blow-by layups on Hughes (and the quick points that come from those drives). On the other hand, he could help the Cavs force the tempo a little if they (for whatever crazy reason) wanted to speed up the pace.

My thought is that Cleveland will NOT try to force the pace because they would be taken out of their comfort zone while SA has shown they can adapt (see Phoenix) to a quicker pace. Cleveland's only chance is to slow the game down to a crawl, hang in and be within striking distance in the 4th, then hope Lebron can take over and score at will, distribute the ball to wide open perimeter players, etc. Again, I like the Under for the game, but I could see a high scoring 1st quarter if SA really forces things.

The public is either slightly on Cleveland or split 50/50 on this game, depending on who you believe.

That bet should be money. I'm not sure how long Brown can continue to play Hughes over Gibson at this point. Hell, he may very well end up covering that bet with his points alone.

Anyone know if Larry Hughes will have a painkiller shot tonight or not? I know in game 1 he didn't, but I'm not sure if he is or isn't tonight.

If he plays more than 10 minutes, Cleveland fans and backers will need painkiller shots.

I just hope they give Gibson more minutes tonight his past 5 games have been solid and I don't think they have been using him as much as they should. It gives Lebron someone he can give to the ball to and trust when the put up the shot, because he is the only Cavalier with any jumpshot right now.
