Default I'm down and out

Because of the Celtics' loss to the Trailblazers, I'm down and out! No doubt, any team can lose a game but one would hardly expect Celtics to lose to a shorthanded Portland.
The Cavaliers lost to Heat. No surprise. Spurs lost to the Bucks. No surprise. Yesterday, the Rockets succumbed to the Wizards. No surprise. You pick a road favorite, they lose. You pick a home favorite, they lose. I'm not a dog that I should be able to sniff when a dog will win a game. I thought the dog reign was for hockey and baseball and I had ended my romance with those games. I thought basketball was easier to cap but what a joke it has become.
Upsets are part of the game but when they occur at a rate and in a manner as harmful as the Celtics' loss to Portland, one had better take a break to at least regain one's sanity.
What pains one is that the Cletics losses all seem too scripted. Each time they've lost, they win the 1Q and 1H and somehow get outscored in the 2H. The same way they lost to the Warriors is the same they lost today. Congrats to those who had the foresight to play Portland on the ML.
I'm taking a break. I have to decide if this is worth the stress and trauma.

I know what you mean, Wilforth. It is ridiculous how certain teams can just straight out tank it against an inferior opponent. But I guess that's the NBA for you. Sorry to hear about your losses. Hope you have a wonderful New Year!

yea i felt like that, i was killin nfl and somehow in week 17 managed to go 0-5 in one oclock games, it was like nothing i could do would work. I managed to go 2-0 later to cut the loss, but then monday i went 0-2. Today my first college football play was 0-1 and it was like it would never end, sure enough i was like 4-2 in the evening and im now only down -.5 unit for the week so its really not that bad of a situation if i can pile up a couple profitable days. Honestly i was worried about the Celtics game from the get-go cause the whole team mending together in spite of an injury to pull off an unlikely win. This seems to happen ALOT in basketball, but w.e shit happens. Just look at tommorrow like your starting fresh and im sure you can chop into it and hopefully break even or maybe make some money by the end of the week

tell me abt it. i could honestly say now that nba betting shld be done after the all star break. and not this early of a season when every team (owner/s) could afford to tank any given game (insert conspiracy fixing here)!

I agree, I did the NBA for a couple of weeks and its just to hard to cap and get a winner and to make money off of it.

Take a break, get out if you can. Join me on my new years resolution, quit sportsbetting for good.

Wilforth,

Vacation time always helps. Sports betting, as well as any other form of gambling involves risk as well as luck. Days were you run well it feels like money grows on trees. When you hit a rough patch it can seem like the whole world is against you.

All of us have set backs, bad beats, and unlucky stretches. Study lines more, work at it. There is an edge, it can be gained. Try not to dwell on a tough loss, instead spend more time analyzing lines and focusing on finding an advantage. It may take time, you must be flexible and be willing to change your methodology.

Its often said that poker is tough way to make an easy living. The same can be said of sports betting. Get your money in good and don't sweat the results. The cash comes in eventually. Keep at it, keep your head up, and keep trying to get better at it. No one is perfect, no matter how experienced they may be. Good luck to you and your endeavors.

willforth Keep your chin up. i respect your plays and look into them every day. This is the exact reason that Cocknocker says to hedge your plays. like if you were to put 300 on houston to win approx. 273 instead of 330 to win 300. in turn u would put the extra 30 on the wizards money line. it would have cut your losses significantly. This is by far the best tip i have ever picked up on basketball. It seems that it would have helped in all the games you mentioned. Of course if the losing team just covers you would lose the same 330. good luck

A little scary to read some of this! I can guarantee you that more than a few of these post were by degenerate gamblers...all the signs are there.

If you have been on a bad run and are totally stressed out about it you are not doing things right! Money management and wise selections.

Example: sure hindsight is 20-20 but Boston NEVER should have been a ML pick last night. NEVER. It was towards the end of a long road trip. They had NOT been playing well at all. Do not bet ML's on teams on long road trips that have not been playing well and are facing a decent team.

There are many that make a good living betting sports, I do it...but from the filipines. You need to have a PLAN and follow your plan. And it sure seems like many of you are simply betting too much money on single games....and that is where ml's can really screw you.

If any single bet is more than 5% of your bankroll you are doing this wrong! In fact I strongly believe that a SINGLE bet should only be about 2.5% or less of your bankroll.

That gives you a lot of room during a bit of a bad streak.

wilfort, I love your picks and you definitely have talent. you are one of the rare betting winners.
I have had hard time like that also and I got frustrated and took a week or more off, and I always come back on fire.
right now I am 10-1 in the nhl for the past 2 weeks!before that, I took a week break because I had some compiled terrible nights...
anyways hope this might inspire you in some way!
cheers

The celtics have won 85% of their games so far. Not sure how you can say they lose too much to bad teams. Portland is also one of the top teams in the league.
