like in baseball , kobe is the best closer ever but since this is a basketball game he gets to play the majority of the game . unlike with someone like papelbon who comes in strictly to close in limited time . just a thought . different way of looking at it . kobe is THE CLOSER !

This a main reason why Sportsbooks/Vegas/etc all make fortunes off gambling. Cause there are always times when the majority of the crowds get killed on certain events (usually big anticipated ones). This time for instance, everyone going with the Lakers.

Lets go Celtics!!

game 1:
under for the total is the best bet here imo as both teams have been talking about defense. the last round's games 1 for both teams have gone under. i expect the same thing to happen on this game. add the fact that they've never face each other post-gasol so there will be a lot of 'measuring the other team' by both coaches.

game 2:
lakers +pts. game 2s is where kobe takes over! (check all games 2 the last 3 rounds ) enuff said!

ill write more after game 1.
your thoughts?

Celtics in 6.

Boston: Celtics win the first 2 home games (Game 1 is won ATS and goes UNDER). 2-0
LA: Lakers win Games 3 and 5, Celtics take Game 4 on the road. 3-2
Boston: Celtics take Game 6. 4-2

Majority will back the Lakers to win the series but they'll be shocked in the end.

The series goes: 2-3-2 in the NBA Finals.
So, your perdictions need adjustments.

I hope the Celtics win and I think they might be able to do it. They are starting to play great ball, with Allen coming back in form. It's hard to bet against Kobe but I just hope it will a great series to watch and I can't wait for next season. Hopefully my Chicago bulls can go further.

The Celtics have good wagering value at +odds in conjunction with home court disadvantage. However, I do believe that the Lakers will win in the end because the Kobe/Phil/Fish threesome has been there and done that before. If anyone can say with a straight face they thought that the Pistons had a chance to win the Finals against the Lakers in 2004 then this is the series where the Celtics can win, despite Doc Rivers.

Just like they all jumped on the Pistons bandwagon when Celtics lost game 2 at home, were on Pistons for the series.

Just like they thought the Giants would lose the Super Bowl, fade em bro.

Been waiting many years to see my celtics back in it!

So have the Pistons, and the Spurs, but both teams are out. And Lakers are next.

Fisher really isnt anything when someone is actually within a few feet of him and he doesnt hit those open 3's half the time.

Nobody will be able to guard Garnetts high risen jumpers. Phil might have the experience, but Doc Rivers has great value with his team, they are a true family going into this game, since before the season even started. A great thing to see.

Exactly T, The more I think about this I am starting to feel it as a good thing with all the media hype on one side in a big event. The media all crowned USC as champs before they played Texas and we all know how that turned out as well.

Think it already went down.

Just put a lot on the Celtics for series, and since there are days left before this starts, probably will throw another amt on them.

This is the Big 3's year, anyone who thinks Kobe and his foreign entourage of weirdos will take this away from them, I will PM you some worthy charities to give the money too instead of Vegas.

They couldnt get it done during the season, wont now, Pau goatface Gasol will be nothing against tough defense from Perkins and Garnett.

But for Lakers getting this far. With some help from the refs, costing the spurs games down the stretch. (Ginobili getting thrown and held on the floor, Barry getting fouled, although Spurs get what they deserve for their cheating mentality)

I took the Celtics +175 for the series: 3units
I think That holds great value, since they hold home court advantage.
If they win their 1st home game, then the series value should swing back to the Lakers. I just think this series will go 6 if not 7 games.
Too much hype about these 2 teams for the series to end in LA.

So the Atl, Cleveland series could have been match up issues.

Boston destroyed LA in the 2 head to heads this season and they have home court advantage. I don't see how its "not close".

some stupid thoughts...

the c's are a team they say doesn't have playoff experience with their new big three. a lot of analysts predicted a sweep for the c's against atl. (the wiz were beaten by cle) now the analysts liked cle to win it and they say cle could win one in boston. both series spawned the speculation that truly the c's are not made for the playoffs.

1) with a lowly bunch of enemies the c's racked up playoff experiences. 2 games sevens has taught them that pierce is still there and somehow kg is not the man to place the last shot with.
2) lowly enemies also creates the opportunity for some fun, since their best at home why not just play at home and be able to fully relish the moment of maybe a once in a lifetime playoff run.

with det, a serious contender and a team that is a TEAM. c's needed to play every game and show that they are THE contender for present the championship. (for next year might just be a figment of their imagination)

lakers... it's nice to see that they have dominated every opponent even with a depleted line up (w/o bynum & ariza) BUT then again next year they would be the team to beat and might as well be the biggest contender for next years crown as early as this moment.

btw: a lot of def match-ups came up but most are just plain stupid. why would phil let vlad def pierce and let pau guard perk??? what i want to see is kg vs pau/odom, pierce vs odom/kobe and kobe vs posey/pierce/allen. perk is not a threat to let a valuable defender sit on him and vlad is not that a defensive specialist to contain the opponents top 1.

I think the Lakers were around -600 against the Pistons in the 2004 NBA Finals, didn't seem to bother Detroit much.

Hes right, Big Events normally produce Sideways results.

Example: Giants over Patriots...

I learned not to play big on Big Events the night I lost more money than I ever have before. Boise st. over Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl of '06. If you ever get a chance watch a replay of this game...

I remember that game, it was one of the great college games of all time. Back and forth and it came down to the last play.

I also recall the superbowl, and I took the Giants with the points because I knew they would keep it close.

Lastly, I even remember back in 05, or 06 the rose bowl with vince young vs reggie bush and usc. I dont know what the line was, but I bet numerous friends that VY would win that game, and I cashed in big time.

Anyway, back to the present, I am sorry for all you wagering on the Celtics, but this is not just hype or media bias for LA.

The Lakers will win this series. Im guessing 5 games. Theyll split the series in boston, then win straight out.

Yep, I had Texas as well +7.... VY went the F*** off... This made up a little from the Fiesta Bowl that year... To rub it in after tha Boise St. Win I had to watch some dude Propose to a Cheerleader. It was 12:45 AM and I had to be at work at 5AM the next morning, I hardly slept.

your thoughts?
game 1: under hit!

---

as of now, game 2 line & total: lakers +2/celtics -2 over/under 190.5

let's stick to plan and take lakers +pts! game 1 was somehow 'helped' by the zebras. dat was almost expected. see http://forum.sbrforum.com/nba-basket...ts-zebras.html thread. i think game 2 the refs will let the game play on. calls slightly favoring the lakeshow. also, both teams now know they thrive when the ball is being pushed. i expect the game to hit high 90's, low 100's or even higher! with those said, my plays would be:
over 190.5 *2 units
lakers +2 *1 unit

addt'l plays to consider:
lakers ml *½ unit
kobe pts total over (possibly 29.5) *1 unit

*if u like lakers ats, i think it's better to wait a day or two coz i think celtics -2 might go even higher to -3 or -3.5 but if u like the over, best to bet now as i dont think it will go any lower. i think it would only go higher.

goodluck all!

thoughts???
