Listen up, basketball experts. Starting Saturday (Mar 1) we will commence with the March Hoops Parlay Contest with the monthly grand prize a 22” widescreen LCD monitor. The rules are simple:

1. Check in the NBA BASKETBALL HANDICAPPING FORUM each day for the daily thread to be posted by LT Profits. Lines will be posted by 1:00 p.m. (ET) each day. Plays may be posted before that, but the official posted lines will be used for grading.

2. Posted spreads and totals are the only eligible plays for grading. Both NBA and NCAA games included.

3. Two-game parlay picks, laying 10 to win 26. Post entire parlay at same time, no open parlays.

4. Here’s the catch: Your play must include a write-up, doesn’t have to be long, just a sentence or two about why you’re making your play. Here’s a THREAD from last year’s contest to be used for an example.

5. Entries that are past-post or do not have analysis for both games will be NO ACTION. Once your two-team parlay has been posted, you CANNOT change either play. Any edited post will count as a LOSS! If you make a mistake (such as leaving out "Over" or "Under" or not clearly stating your selection), need to add analysis or wish to enter corrected lines, do so in a seperate post. This holds true even if the first game on the schedule did not tip off yet. It also holds true for past-posts and entries with no analysis. It does NOT hold true for posts that are not parlay selections, i.e. standings, commentary posts or congratulatory posts.

6. And here’s the fine print:

• Must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
  
• One entry per household and IP address.
  
• Must use lines posted in daily thread by LT Profits
  
• Maximum one parlay pick per day, minimum 15 parlay plays needed to be eligible for monthly prize.
  
• Tiebreaker - Win % of individual parlay legs. If still tied, combatants will carry on a head-to-head parlay match until winner determined.
  
• All decisions made by SBR with regards to this contest are final.
  
• SBR employees eligible to participate but are not eligible to win the monthly prize.
  
• Residents outside the Continental US may be awarded the cash value prize instead of the monitor.

Kentucky -2.5: Kentucky playing for their lives right now, and playing much better ball of late. Florida is not very tough on the road.

Pistons/Bulls Under 196: I think these 2 teams will have a good high 80s-90s battle with good defense.

Texas -12 (or so) (v. Oklahoma State)
Texas claims a share of the Big 12 title with this win. They'll be flying high for their last home game. Oklahoma State, on the other hand, probably saw their NCAA tourney chances disappear when they lost at home on Wednesday to rival Oklahoma. Though the Cowboys have been playing well lately, I think the air must have come out on Wednesday. They shot 36.5% against Oklahoma, and they generally do not rebound very well. I'm betting on Texas to set themselves up for the conference tournament with a nice big win here.


Virginia Tech +10.5 (or so) (at Clemson)
Two very good teams. They will both have first round byes in the ACC tourney, and they will both be in the big dance. I just think the difference here, even at Clemson, is not double digit. Virginia Tech has been playing excellent D. They have given up <35% shooting and <60 points in their last two (the second of which was an impressive win over Wake Forest). Clemson gave up 80 points on 52% shooting in losing to Georgia Tech, a loss that almost messed up their first round bye.

The Pistons have had trouble with the Bulls this year. But this is a different team without Ben Wallace. I think the Pistons will cover this game easily.

Illinois State +2: ISU's 0-2 against Drake, but my delusional self still feels they are the better team.

UNC-Wilmington +7: UNCW already 2-0 against G-Mase. Tough to beat a team 3 x, I know, and VCU/Mase part 2 seems inevitable, but Mase has done nothing away from its home floor, certainly not enough to warrant the 7 spot here. The Pats often go through long droughts on offense, something they can ill afford against an offense like UNCW's. Think G-Mase pulls it out, but this one goes down to the wire.

Elon/College of Charleston Over 129.5: I took Charleston's Over 150 last night and that hit by 10 points. The only reason this total is so low is because its on a neutral court. The first meeting totaled 143, and the second meeting totaled 173. Charleston is favored by 5.5, and people seem to like Elon getting points, so this could be a close game towards the end too, which would also help push the total over.

Drake -2: Drake is great against the spread, and I expect them to continue there winning ways against the second ranked team in their conference, but Illinois State is not strong enough away from home to take down Drake.

troy has gone to 4 corner type offense for conference tourney and won with it last night running shot clock down on every possession. big difference in the type of ball they have played all year shooting 3 pointers as sonn as they on offensive end of floor. do not see why they would change to old offense as won with slow down last night.
