Listen up, basketball experts. Starting Saturday (Mar 1) we will commence with the March Hoops Parlay Contest with the monthly grand prize a 22” widescreen LCD monitor. The rules are simple:

1. Check in the NBA BASKETBALL HANDICAPPING FORUM each day for the daily thread to be posted by LT Profits. Lines will be posted by 1:00 p.m. (ET) each day. Plays may be posted before that, but the official posted lines will be used for grading.

2. Posted spreads and totals are the only eligible plays for grading. Both NBA and NCAA games included.

3. Two-game parlay picks, laying 10 to win 26. Post entire parlay at same time, no open parlays.

4. Here’s the catch: Your play must include a write-up, doesn’t have to be long, just a sentence or two about why you’re making your play. Here’s a THREAD from last year’s contest to be used for an example.

5. Entries that are past-post or do not have analysis for both games will be NO ACTION. Once your two-team parlay has been posted, you CANNOT change either play. Any edited post will count as a LOSS! If you make a mistake (such as leaving out "Over" or "Under" or not clearly stating your selection), need to add analysis or wish to enter corrected lines, do so in a seperate post. This holds true even if the first game on the schedule did not tip off yet. It also holds true for past-posts and entries with no analysis. It does NOT hold true for posts that are not parlay selections, i.e. standings, commentary posts or congratulatory posts.

6. And here’s the fine print:

• Must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
  
• One entry per household and IP address.
  
• Must use lines posted in daily thread by LT Profits
  
• Maximum one parlay pick per day, minimum 15 parlay plays needed to be eligible for monthly prize.
  
• Tiebreaker - Win % of individual parlay legs. If still tied, combatants will carry on a head-to-head parlay match until winner determined.
  
• All decisions made by SBR with regards to this contest are final.
  
• SBR employees eligible to participate but are not eligible to win the monthly prize.
  
• Residents outside the Continental US may be awarded the cash value prize instead of the monitor.

Spurs/Pacers Under 196: This has already dropped 1.5 pts and may drop more. The Spurs are clamping down on D and I dont see the Pacers scoring a ton in SA away from home.

Michigan State -2: Hopefully Izzo can cure those road problems... I think they are rounding into form for the tourney. Tonight should be a good look into whether they are going to be worth anything in March-April...

Cavs +3 1/2 -- I may be missing something here but last I looked Chicago was still not good and the Cavs are at least decent. After lebrons explosion last night I dont see a let down and I see a Cavs win by at least 5.

Mavs/Rockets over 184 -- Although both the big men are out for this game for these two I think that will open up the middle and lets face it they still have people that can score...

ARIZONA STATE/OREGON UNDER 139: Arizona State plays a deliberate style, and their road games are only averaging 128.8 points this season. They have done a nice job of slowing the Oregon offense recently too, as the Under is 6-1 in the last seven head-to-head, with the last two meetings producing just 106 and 116 points respectively.

XAVIER/ST. JOSEPH'S UNDER 138.5: St. Joe's could be playing for their tournamnet lives here, and they know that their best chance of beating 25-4 Xavier is to slow the pace down, thereby limiting the amount of possessions for a Musketeers offense that is second in the country behind only Kansas in points per possession. Now we are not so sure the Hawks have enough to get that needed win over what we feel is an underrated Xavier team, but St. Jow will at least serve the purpose of keeping this game relatively low scoring.

Indiana St -1 - Indiana St was inconsistent this year, but they are the better team here, and I think they should be able to pull it together and rise to the occasion and come out with a win.

Pacers-Spurs U196: Too high for most Spurs games (funnily enough I like O201.5 in tomorrow's game against Denver but that's a vastly different game). Indiana won't top 90, and I don't see the Spurs pouring in over 100. They slow it down too much.

Cavs +3.5: I capped Cleveland as the favorite and they're getting 3.5 (I have real money on them at +4). I can't bet against that for any reason. Maybe they lay an egg on a back-to-back, but I'll take my chances.

X playing for seeding, Joe's playing for its tourney life. Joe's matches up better with X than any team in the league - they have a PG in Carr that can put defensive pressure on Lavender, and in Ahmad Nivins they have an inside force to make make Duncan work on the defensive end. 3 disappointing losses in their L4 has left Joe's in dire need of a win if they're to have any hope of an at-large bid, and the Hawks led until the final minute at Xavier despite only getting 15 min. from Nivins as a result of foul trouble. Xavier's had many close encounters on the road in conf. play, and I think this is a spot they won't survive.

Pacer/Spurs UNDER 196
SA's clearly picked up its defense during its recent run. Game will be played in the half court, and the Spurs are just so difficult to score on. This is a game where Indy will struggle to surpass the mid 80s, leaving SA needing an offensive outburst (unlikely) to push the total over.

Clemson comes into this game with a big win over Maryland,and sporting a (21-7) record,and (9-5) in the conference.Led by scoring leader K.C Rivers,and the rebounding,and 3pt shooting leader Trevor Booker,Clemson is having one of their better years in a long time.So they should be able to take care of Ga Tech.


SanAntonio and Indiana under 197.5


Even though the Pacers score allot of pts and give up allot of pts,the Spurs are ranked 3rd in total defense behind Boston,and Detroit,and they should have no trouble holding the Pacers under 197.5
