NO NO NO NO AND NO! Sounds like your letting emotion enter the world over gambling which is what the books want.

DON'T BET! WALK AWAY WITH YOUR WINNINGS!

Actually it's pretty silly to do that in this scenario, especially at the half. If you were comfortable with the bet you made at the time financially, you should not hedge, also you are already up on the night so I don't think the "I need to secure something" argument factors in. I personally always like to let things ride unless it's an ungodly amount of units at risk and I really need to be conservative for financial reasons.

correct me if im wrong...but hedging is pretty much to cover your loss...you've already won...keep it and bet another day...

No, hedging ENSURES a profitable outcome.

If he didn't hedge, he loses $300 of his own money because L.A. won and potentially over $700.

If he hedges L.A. winning the second half, his original $300 is still gone but he makes a profit on the hedge bet. I can't give you odds, but for example lets say $200 to win $400.

If he does that, he either wins over 700 minus 200 (500 net profit), OR 400 minus the original 300 stake (100 net profit).

Hedging should be done in uncertain situations. Me personally in his scenario? I hedge, and I would've said that at the time as well. Reason? I'm not nearly confident enough in the Kings to hold a lead/seal the outcome, so rather than sit and watch them squander my 300 (+700), I'd rather win a little less if they do manage to -- but still a WIN -- or make a small profit on their choke.
