Listen up, basketball experts. Starting Saturday (Mar 1) we will commence with the March Hoops Parlay Contest with the monthly grand prize a 22” widescreen LCD monitor. The rules are simple:

1. Check in the NBA BASKETBALL HANDICAPPING FORUM each day for the daily thread to be posted by LT Profits. Lines will be posted by 1:00 p.m. (ET) each day. Plays may be posted before that, but the official posted lines will be used for grading.

2. Posted spreads and totals are the only eligible plays for grading. Both NBA and NCAA games included.

3. Two-game parlay picks, laying 10 to win 26. Post entire parlay at same time, no open parlays.

4. Here’s the catch: Your play must include a write-up, doesn’t have to be long, just a sentence or two about why you’re making your play. Here’s a THREAD from last year’s contest to be used for an example.

5. Entries that are past-post or do not have analysis for both games will be NO ACTION. Once your two-team parlay has been posted, you CANNOT change either play. Any edited post will count as a LOSS! If you make a mistake (such as leaving out "Over" or "Under" or not clearly stating your selection), need to add analysis or wish to enter corrected lines, do so in a seperate post. This holds true even if the first game on the schedule did not tip off yet. It also holds true for past-posts and entries with no analysis. It does NOT hold true for posts that are not parlay selections, i.e. standings, commentary posts or congratulatory posts.

6. And here’s the fine print:

• Must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
  
• One entry per household and IP address.
  
• Must use lines posted in daily thread by LT Profits
  
• Maximum one parlay pick per day, minimum 15 parlay plays needed to be eligible for monthly prize.
  
• Tiebreaker - Win % of individual parlay legs. If still tied, combatants will carry on a head-to-head parlay match until winner determined.
  
• All decisions made by SBR with regards to this contest are final.
  
• SBR employees eligible to participate but are not eligible to win the monthly prize.
  
• Residents outside the Continental US may be awarded the cash value prize instead of the monitor.

PHI -2.5: Sixers are playing some good ball now and are coming off a win at PHX. The Clips have been hit by the injury bug with Thomas out and Knight questionable. Kaman isn't 100% yet either.

HORNETS/KNICKS UNDER 196: The Hornets only scored 84 points at Washington last night, bringing the Under to 12-5 in their last 17 non-conference games. Yes, the Over is 9-1 last 10 Knicks games, but that has more to do with the bad Knicks defense than it does with offense. New Orleans shot just 41 percent from the field last night, and if they are off again tonight, I don't think the Knicks will score enough for this game to go Over.

76ERS/CLIPPERS UNDER 187.5: Clippers only average 92.8 points at home, and they're averaging a pathetic 85.6 the last five games. Don't let the Siers' 119 points vs. Phoenix fool you, as that was more of a by-product of the Suns' style. Philly still averages just 94.5 points on the road. Also, these teams combined for 181 last month.

The kicker is the fact that home teams, playing off a 30-plus point home loss, are 18-9 ATS from Game 28 out when facing an opponent off a win.

Utah Jazz -6 1/2In his 14th season, Kidd is shooting a career-low 37.7 percent from the floor and his current average of 11.3 PPG would be the second-lowest season average of his career. Utah and Dallas have split the first two meetings this season with each winning at home.

i look at these two teams as evenly matched team. altho okur is better on the no. 5 spot by comparison, im hoping 2-4 spots would compensate for that, thus making it an evenly matched team. i know utah is great at home games, but it's the second half of the season and any good team especially on the road will play much better and much more consistent - having set plays, playing d and opting for a high percentage shots. having said those, this game should be a close game. that's why im taking the points! hopefully no overtime as i have the under also. an upset is also highly probable!

St. Mary's CA -13: St. Mary's won this game by 37 @ St. Mary's not too long ago. Portland is a weak 8-17-1 ATS and St. Mary's is 2nd in the conference and needs a big win tonight to get themselves a respectable tournament seed.

San Diego -20: San Diego is 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games. Loyola Marymount is 6-19 ATS this year. SD won the previous meeting by 24 @ Loyola, and shouldn't have a problem here at home.

Utah State -9 (v. Fresno State)
Utah State is an excellent shooting team. They are in a knot at the top of the WAC, and need this game. They are terrific at home, playing this one on 4 days rest off an easy home win against La Tech. Fresno State has been terrible ATS (1-11 over their last 12). They are traveling to Logan on only 2 days rest, off a 5-point home loss to New Mexico State.


St. Mary's -13 (at Portland)
St. Mary's is going to be fired up for this. They need it to stay in the hunt in the WCC. Portland is usually pretty bad. They are coming off a pretty good win at home over Santa Clara; I don't think they get two in a row. Gonzaga beat Portland, in Portland, by 22 one week ago. I think St. Mary's will do about the same to them.
