OEGNO sorry to hear this ive been in this spot when i first started off about 7 years ago,not counting a few years of paper trading.

listen bud im trying to be someone,i really dont give a **** if you listen or not im just going to give you a few stats, and stats only lie 45% of the time.

i know for a FACT that in a 30 day period anyone that sports invests wins atleast 4 days in that period [4/30] their is your ANSWER it aint difficult.
does anyone know what im saying?? if you cant get it you .deff. need to stop gambling

i hate statistics, i took the damn class and never payed attention i guess...i'm so tempted sometimes tho i mean, i see a nice spread or over/under and i just wanna bet my ****ing house on it, and a little more than half the time, i hit it, its great, i celebrate, i have some beers, i go out and spend my winnings happily...but its wen the loses come, one after another, and i don't have the cash up front....or barely do....its too risky

Lol i lost Was and Port, pushed Miami. But before i went to bed i put together a crazy parlay including NY+13, Denver, Sacramento, NoH not covering, Philly.. and it won Too bad i put very little on it since it was just for fun, but it covered the losses
Today i have big money riding on euro basket, but im confident about it, its a lot less unpredictable than NBA

Damn that sucks man. Sorry for the horrible night. So, you don't have the funds to cover your night and you're trying to get it together before the bookie comes for you? Or you just spent all your bill money?

If your record in your sig is any indication your now 38 and 30. Which isn't that bad. Variance is a bad thing and your edge with most gambling is usually not more than a few %. I have never found a play that I figure will give me more than 5% edge.

You have to either ride the wave or go to safer waters, I guess your heading to safer waters. GL with whatever you do.

Hate to preach, but a good lesson of what not to do in gambling. Guys I'm no guru but take a lesson from a guy who's been on earth long more time than most here, I gamble to make money (not for entertainment) f\*\*k that bullshiit. However SET A LIMIT AND STICK TO IT. I learned through hard knocks like what Oeg did. Now I send 2k to my 2 favorite books. If I loose (I mostly play NCAA/NFL season) I get em next year. So far 2005= won 5k 2006= even 2007=even notice even results. thats cause I got my original investment back both years , played with house money till I was tapped. Then I fvcking stop gambling. Discipline Discipline Discipline. If you can't obtain it, than do like Oeg and stop gambling, your financial future may be at risk.

I'm going to take a guess and say that you were not wagoring any less than 2% of what you put aside to begin with. Because if you were you wouldn't be quiting. Bet less money and enjoy the ride. It's alot easier winning in the long run betting less.

That's rough, pal. Believe me when I say I KNOW how you feel. I've promised myself many times I'll stop but I just love this too much. My huge problem has been money mgmt. Chasing specifically is the problem I, and most degenerate phucks here, face. Since re-loading after the Hoosier debacle (Oh, btw, PHUCK YOU INDIANA UNIVERSITY-- I SAID PHUCK YOU!) I've resisted the urge to chase. It's only been a few days but every day I have that feeling where I see a game and just want to go all in on it and double up the acct. It's hard as hell to not go all in when you think you see a lock. Each time I resist though it gets easier to resist the next time.

HG made an awesome post in the players talk thread (why oh why do we chase?) yesterday that is profound. Read it. GLTY!

Believe me I know how you feel if SA had just beat the Spurs on the ML Tuesday I would have made a big win.

But thats gambling last night I won all my bets yesterday thanks to great last couple of goals by the sharks.

Just don't bet what you can't afford to lose

Chicago At Colorado Colorado to Win @ 5/7 Won
San Jose At Calgary San Jose to win with Handicap of +1.5 @ 5/12 Won
Charlotte At Sacramento Sacramento to Win @ 5/18 Won
    Atlanta At L A Clippers L A Clippers to win with Handicap of +4 @ 10/11 Won
    Bet Type : Yankee

yeah, my sig isn't up to date, on monday i won a lot, tuesday i lost wat i won on monday, and wednesday i lost double of wat i lost tuesday....so yeah, i'm in a tight spot rite now

I personally just started gambling a couple weeks ago and have learned the same lesson you have. I was up big- (big in my terms) and then decided online black jack was a good idea. Lost it all. Then, during the giants packers, i got back up. I cashed out immediatly. By the time the check arrived, I was already down what I had coming in the mail lol. Its because I have been chasing. Now, I am trying to bet a lot less and be in for a longer run instead of thinking ill do this for a couple months and cash out big. It won't happen! lol

i think we all know how you feel.

give this number a call 1-888- admit it.
    it might just help.

    if not, then.....

i lost ALOT of money on brandon lang this year. worst mistake of my life. i've decided to change up my betting style and play mostly DOGS now. (junkyard seems to do the same thing, hence why i take alot of his ncaab picks)

or just bet against yourself. its an odd way of betting, but it works. Before you lay a bet in, choose the complete opposite. You'll probaly come out winning in the long run becuase 99% of bettors lose.

We mostly pick favorites to cover a spread. what percentage do you think your favorite picks vs dog picks do you make? probaly 80:20? its like blackjack, we bust or hurt ourselves before the dealer gets his chance knowing alot of 10 point value cards are coming out of the deck.

yea but it was Hawks 4th road game in 6 days...I would never take a team that plays that kind of schedule and is a horrible road team...watch, the Lakers now play 9 straight road games...there will be excellent trends to cash in vs them in the next 2 weeks...must pay attention to trends not just who's the better team each night...

One thing all of us need to realize is;There is no such thing as a lock, there's no betting the opposite,or any of all the other bullshit things people try to tell you to do.The thing you have to remember is,it's all about luck. Some people are just plain unlucky.I have a freind who can not hit anything.Just to show you what I mean,One night were watching the Yankees,Indians game, and were betting each other on different things like who's gonna get a hit,or who steals second etc..It's in the 7th inning ,Indians up 8-2,I gave him the Indians for the game $500.My freinds just thought I was drunk, but I know how unlucky he is.Final score Yankees 13,Indians 4..............Your either lucky or your not, sure it helps to know about the teams, and who's hurt, and who,s hot right now,or you can call somebody, and pay $1000 to JOHN ANTHONY,or BRANDON LANG,AL PACINO,or whatever the hell their name is,but all that money, and all that studying, and research is still just an educated guess...............The thing you have to remember is;It's just like alcohol, sone can handle it,some can not,and one other thing, those LasVegas didn't get built on people losing...BUT GOD HELP ME I LOVE IT

i suppose i understand the road thing, but to me that is a trend, trends schmends they dont mean a penny to me..

i have read articles, and databases about a team being on the road.i suppose it could help others but i find no value in it.i have to much stuff going on to really even bother with nba but i throw a few bucks week in, week out on it.i dont make any bet unless i statisticly know i have an edge, atleast by my calculations

not going to bet, but i looked at the spreads today and i personally favored suns under 203, suns -7, lakers +7.5, and cle/seat under...i saw the lakers at halftime and i wanted to pick lakers +2 2nd half as well....but yeah, that would have been my picks today

i personally wouldn't wanna touch gambling again cuz i've got some horrible luck as well...but i'll still watch and follow basketball as if i WERE gambling becuz i love the sports, even tho i can't play it worth shit...i'll hang around the forums still and throw in my input here and there but as for betting, i'm gonna take a serious break and just recollect my thoughts and everything...thanks everyone =)

OegNo- how bout we combine our plays, then fade them all in a super parlay for a unit or two?

Looks like we both need to start over fresh.

Good luck Oeg. I live in Vegas also. I have gone from playing slots then moved to Blackjack then to the books. I was extremely lucky when I started playing all 3. Slots - 5 Royals in video poker playing 1 Dollar and 5 Dollar in a 36 hour period. Blackjack - 3 time I played I started with $40 and 24 hours later walked out with 3800. I went wild with all of them. Betting on the games I've learned that at times I need to back off and regroup. I look at how am I approaching my handicapping(Am I over analysing, etc.). Then I start back slowly. I've been playing the games since 2000. For the most part I have broken even each year. Usually lose some at football and Basketball, but make it up in Baseball. Only 1 year did I have a winning year and that was 2002 when I parlayed the Sweet Sixteen with a couple of double digit moneyline underdogs and hit it. I won enough with that ticket that I am probably still a little on house money. I play for the enjoyment. I don't like losing anymore than anybody else. But I only bet what I can afford to lose.

good luck and hope to see you again

    Sorry to hear that OegNo...
I used to go through rough times. Thing that made me more of a even keel better was learning bank management. Set aside an amount you are willing to lose. And only bet 5% of that at the very most, usually 1 or 2 % for each bet. This way, you get to enjoy sports a lot more, get the thrill of betting on games, and you get to learn more and more about betting.
