Default What's your worst NBA beat? 10 pts to the worst

I thought about creating this thread after losing a bet the other night. I had Dallas +3.5. Looked great...they were up by 3 points with 10 seconds and at the foul line. Barea misses both free throws, NO hits a trey and the Mavs lose by 7 in after a weak overtime. I realize that this isn't the worst beat ever...but it ticked me off none the less. Anyone have any good stories? I'll give 10 points to my favorite...

I am a fan of the Knicks and the Nets.

I think you're underestimating the tragedy of my fandom OP. I get bad beated damn near every time they play.

This ones a beauty. 3/27/09 Grizz vs Sac. Sac was -3, didn't end up playing the game at the beginning but was bored and nothing else was on. I tuned in and watched the second quarter. By the half time the Grizz were leading by 22 points. I bought Sac at -6.5 for the second half expecting them to save some face against the Grizz reserves. Basically as long as they lost by 15.5 or better I would win. Sac came back and answered right away in the third cutting the lead by 7. They did well into the fourth, but in the last 50 seconds Memphis outscored them 7-2 to win by 18. The last shot was what really killed me though. The Grizz had a 15 point lead and the ball with 16 seconds left and lazily dribbled the ball up the court. Darius Miles stood back and let time wind down, then quite suddenly took two quick steps past Beno Udrih who was reaching out to shake his hand and hucked a lazy 26 footer up exactly at the buzzer. The basket counted and the Grizz won by 18. There went the bet and nearly the TV i was watching the game on. Here is the last 50 seconds of the game.

    0:50 Marko Jaric makes 19-foot jumper 108-93
0:42 108-93 Bobby Jackson misses three point jumper
0:24 Hamed Haddadi makes 13-foot two point shot 110-93
0:16 110-95 Spencer Hawes makes layup
0:16 Hamed Haddadi illegal defense 110-95
0:00 Darius Miles makes 26-foot three point jumper 113-95
0:00 End of the 4th Quarter
    0:00 End Game

Why is he shooting a three here up by 15???

Watching this game it felt like it was going in slow motion at the end. I just couldn't believe that the guy would do that at the buzzer when his team was already winning by that much...

Any time you have a dog plus points and you lose in overtime it's a bad beat.

OH MY GOD BRO! i had the same bet and I remember that....i just started betting basketball....I lost my entire 430 dollar bankroll on Bodog on that bet.....I knocked over my small tv in my dorm room when I saw that. I had NBA package in my dorm last year and I was in shock......down 15 and if no points score we cover on the 2nd half...i kicked my tv and threw it out of my window onto the other buildings roof and luckily no one saw it or heard it.

Not saying this was the winner, but a classic -- worth 10 points for sure.

Well Jazz this year was pretty bad, up 15 getting 6.5 with 9 minutes left, then they somehow get outscored by 27 with 9 minutes left.
Worst one ever though wasn't NBA at all it was college last year, don't remember the teams I'll have to ask my brother, the game was over my team was up 3 and spread was 2 and there was 1 second left, they imbound and my team fouls a guy shooting a 3 quarter court shot. So I still have a chance if it goes to overtime atleast, nope he makes 2 out of 3 and I lose by a point. Pretty heart breaking.

Haha, sorry you had that too Brakon, that was a horrible one to watch. I wish I had just checked the scores but seeing it happen was horrifying. Its certainly not the most dramatic beat or most fantastic, but something about the insignificance and mediocrity of these two teams made it so much worse. I swear, watching it, that 3 pointer by Miles looked closer to half court than 26 feet.

Thanks for the points crackerjack, I love the thread idea. I'm sure you'll get some great stories.

no..dude..thats just a bad beat......mavericks brought it upon themselves....missed 3 freethrows and threw ball away and than played bad defense in OT.....the darius miles one is for sure the worst....TEAMS DO NOT SHOOT 3POINTERS WITH 10 SECONDS LEFT IN GAME WHEN THE DEFENSE HAS GIVEN UP AND RESIGNS THE GAME!!.....MADE NO SENSE FOR DARIUS TO CHUCK UP THE 3 UNLESS SOMEONE WHO HE KNEW HAD A WAGER ON THE 2ND HALF FOR HIS TEAM TO COVER..WHICH IM ASSUMING OCCURED...BC THOSE THINGS DONT HAPPEN WHEN UP DOUBLE DIGITS AT HOME

I've seen this shot as a highlight clip, absurdly bad beat.
