Default Hou@ Utah(-8.5) Is Utah the play?

I personally am leaning Utah..Id like to get some thoughts and opinions. I just dont believe Houston is very good at all. Ariza and Brooks look good but beyond that they dont have very much depth. Going into Utah, I like Utah to hammer these guys.

Houston has big depth as far as shooters, and shooters keep you in games. Brooks, Battier, Ariza, Lowry, Andersen, and Budinger can all nail the 3 and have started off the season strong.

These teams always play great games and split the season series last year with each team winning their 2 home games.

The line is sharp, it could go either way but most favorites are not covering the 8-11 pt spreads so far this season.

why is utah a 8.5 point favorite after they barely covered against clipshow?

scola currently averages 11 and 7, nothing to write home about. Good luck on whatever play you make though. Line is now up to 9

They beat LAC by 13...111-98..a team that indeed did cover vs LAL..I like to see everyone on Hou.

I like Houston at +9. Maybe wait closer to gametime for bigger spread

hou is far too undersized. Look for Utah to manhandle these guys on the glass. Only chance i see for Hou is if they run run run and have a hot shooting night. This should be an interesting game.

Houston was undersized against Portland and the Lakers when Yao was out, yet still beat Portland and almost took out the Lakers.

This team overachieves like no other. They never let up on defense or offense, so it's hard to blow them out. Everyone would have to have an off night shooting, which will happen sometimes this season when fatigue sets in. But they have confidence right now and I can't bet against them at this point.

    utah jazz 1h -5
utah's opener wasn't that impressive against the clippers. allowing clippers to hang on til the start of 4th qt. imo, they will have a better outing on this game and hopefully lead from the get-go and just clamp down on these rockets team. i don't think houston's uptempo style will fair well at utah's high altitude arena. and when u see not d will, not boozer, not any1 of the starters but reserve paul millsap somewhat calling out his team to play better defense then u just gotta roll with with these guys and expect a better 2nd home game. scary backdoor cover on -9 esp with rockets' relentless shooters so im taking my chances on jazz first half -5. 'just my 2 cents. best of luck to all!

Like the over, Houston is trying to play more uptempo and I think utah will let them dictate the tempo.

wow someone else liking Utah be it for the half. I will look a little deeper into that play.

utah's a covering machine at home, especially when rested.

might find a reason to not bet the game. but i wouldn't bet against them.

    Houston Rockets vs.Utah Jazz

So far in this young NBA season the Houston Rockets have been somewhat of a surprise as they have beaten Portland and Golden State on their way to a 2-1 record. After losing Ron Artest in the off season many have the Rockets left for dead but I believe their pick up of Trevor Ariza is the perfect fit in this veteran lineup.

The reason the Jazz are such a huge favorite in this game is because it is a home game for them and the Jazz are usually money at home. This game will be closer than the experts think, and the Rockets may even have a chance to pull out the win at the end.

    Rockets +9 -115@bodog

going to wait till gametime so it mayb hits 9-9.5 but i do like the over. Hou playing so fast, should be high scoring. Good luck!

    Where are you getting this?
Utah is 4-9 ATS in its last 13 games at home.
    Okur sat out last game.

Oh, I also like the over.

I like Houston with the points. I like it even better to tease the line. Unless Boozer shows up (which he hasn't), I don't see Utah covering the spread, much less win the game. Boozer has just looked awkward. The only reason why the Jazz haven't been embarrassing is due to the consistent play of Williams and the emergent play of Brewer.

Althouh we are at the start of the season and every prediction is risky, i think UTAH is a strong play tonight.
Honestly it is the best since the premiere at my eyes.
i personally take Utah -8,5 and Utah -14,5 coz i think they ll destroy the Rockets.
Ariza is not the player who is able to score 20+ points in every game and in this Texan team there are shooters, but they dont play good in each game.
so i guess they are gonna find some shots from downtown, but the margin might be over 15

That is usually the line in this match-up. Got a play on H-town and a slightly bigger one on the Over.

I would tease Utah or take them straight up, they do not often lose at home especially against inferior teams. In my opinion, they have the biggest home court advantage in the NBA.

I took Utah -400 with New Orleans -155 in a parlay, and I really like the chances of that hitting.

well there's no question they stumbled into the playoffs at the end of last season, but that little sample doesn't make them a bad ats home team. in the sloan/williams/boozer era, they've been a machine at home and putrid on the road.

they were 21-14-1 ats when rested at home last season
    they were 20-9-2 in 2007

that's a 64% ats winning percentage in the last 2 years, and they covered their first game this year.

you gotta be pretty convincing to get me to bet against that.

Good read Roag, but I don't agree about Utah being that bad of a team. I think they are just rusty, I expect them to get in a groove within the next few weeks and win a lot of games. Could be wrong, Boozer has looked horrid after all...
