Default Leans for the Final Day 2008-2009 NBA Season

You guys give me something good to wager on today. I want to make 3 wagers, and they will be hand picked from the offerings of the board. If you have a good one, let's hear it. The season will be over by the end of the day and now comes the playoffs, our time to shine. But for today, you guys give me the goods.

OPEN BOARD

Carjacked picks and the authors

Pick#1) Pacers-7.5 with a hook buy (from lakerboy)

Pick#2) Chicago Bulls-8 with a point buy (from HoulihansTX)

Pick#3) Detroit -105 Moneyline (Me; with appropriate consideration)

Rockets over Dallas. Rockets need to win to clinch division and home court. Dallas has owned them in the past, but not this year, the Rockets defense is too good and Artest/Yao will stop Noshitzki.

Take Spurs (whatever tomorrow) They are playing a tired Hornets squad(4th game in 6 days). Hornets are on a road trip, and if they lose they get Denver(beatable). If hornets win they get Houston(no Fcukin chance), I think Byron Scott is clever enough to realize this and will rest CP3. Hornets biggest defect is an inept bench, which will get worn out by a home crowd inspired Spurs bench. I expect Tim Duncan and Parker to play, as they are not on any Injury report. I capped the Spurs -2. If significantly higher dont touch.

Bulls (Whatever). Yes, Toronto beat them down by twenty in Chicago in Jan. But this Bulls squad is significantly different. Bulls will outscore any defensively inept team while at home. Toronto is that goat in this game. Toronto is allowing 102pts on the road this year. Bulls while on this 5 game win streak are avg 105pts. Toronto isnt playing Bargnani, those are points off the board. Bulls are heading into the playoffs full head of steam, young, and talented. This game will be high scoring, but Toronto doesnt have the horses to keep up. I capped the Bulls -9. But ill take whatever.

I really like that Bulls call. They are actually still playing for seeding too. They are my dark horse team in the playoffs in the East

Few games jump out depending on spread...Memphis last home game, playing well of late against ATL who obviously do not care anymore. NO/Spurs Under depending on the line, two real slow, solid defensive teams. I think Tyson Chandler is coming back too, help them out to end defensive sequences with some boards for once. Pacers last home game against Mil could be pretty good too depending on line.

i think the grizz are serving us a free chicken dinner tomorrow. atlanta off a hard fought win, they'll be looking to take it easy against this non-conference, won't-see-you-for-another-year opponent. neither have anything to gain, but as you've pointed out yourself a week ago, ck, the grizzlies haven't had anything to play for for a long, long time, and they seem to be thriving in that role, while the hawks have no reason to bring their a-game, or maybe even their b-game. grizz will cap off this streak of overall good play over the last 2+ weeks with a victory for the 1500 or so fans on hand to support them. the grizz started a deal towards the end of the season that if you bought season tickets for next season, you get the rest of this year free. i don't know how common this is, but it does seem like the grizz have picked up their play recently seemingly out of nowhere, and i would think management will be on the coaches' asses to put on a show for these people and end the season on a high note and get some last minute word of mouf going in their favor.

it's just a theory, though. i don't claim to be mr. insider.

i wish this red sox/a's game would end already. it's almost 1 am here.

Those ESPN games are the ones we should keep an eye on. They should actually be competitive.

Fade 76ers. After not showing up with a healthy squad at home, against a wounded Celtics team they shall be faded by me and hard. I feel the Cavs will play to the crowd, and try to blow out a 76ers squad on a B2B, with no motivation. Their playoff standings were cemented with that horrendous loss today to the Celtics.

line: okc@lac+1.5
pick: okc-1.5

Just a gut play here. The Thunder's record does not reflect on how they played this season. Durant, Green and Westbrook showed a lot of promise. I expect them to close out this season on a high note. The Clippers suck. Dunleavy Sr. sucks. Chances are the overpaid superstars of the Clips will all have a DNP tomorrow. The youngsters of Oklahoma will bring us chicken dinner tomorrow.

this has nothing to do with anything (other than betting and talk of the raptors coming to chicago), but as i bid you fellas goodnight after watching the red sox go down in flames in the 12th, here's a little joke from funnyman lewis black in regards to president bush's admission that he had never been to canada prior to being elected:

"NEVER BEEN TO CANADA???!! EVEN DRUNK ON A BET YOU MAKE IT TO CANADA!!!!"

have a good one, ladies and gentlemen.

Even though Atl owns Memphis, they only own them when their starters are playing most of the game. Memphis looks good. Atl played their starters yesterday for about an average of 15 min. Theyre bench is not so great. Memphis has been a covering machine lately also (with the exception of the lakeshow).

Taking the dallas mavericks.
Projected line -3.
Mavs have been rolling at home beating utah and suns by big double digits. rockets are on a 5game win streak but only with 2 road wins vs bad teams (gsw with 7 guys playing, sac). Dallas looking for revenge for the first game @ dallas which they lost.
Howard was rested last game just to play THIS final game. If Dallas win, they will move up to 6th Spot (Hornets must lose @ SA though) and avoid Denver by which they got swept.
Dallas will come strong today since last home game was very close vs. lowly Twolves.

Dallas -3 (projected) BIG (Buy 1 point to 2 maybe)

the early look is leaning hornets if the line is 11 1/2 like it is at sports insights... hornets will not be tired.. they had tues off to rest.. plenty to play for and alot of points.. is that really the line cause i dont see that anywhere else.. the bulls do look the most tempting play though

The only thing that scares me about the Chicago game is they need to win against Toronto or Philly lose against the Cavs. Thus, do you think that in the back of their minds they are convinced that the Cavs will seal the deal on home record tonight. Therefore, not play with everything they got? Also, they could be aware of the Cavs score during the game and become complacent. Do you guys feel like they could become complacent if the following circumstances occur or they will try to carry their strong play throughout the game to give them confidence heading into the playoffs? Can someone provide some insight, especially CK? Also I read that Toronto has won 3 out of the last 4 in Chicago after losing eight straight. Thanks guys

Houlihans...like your Bulls idea

why do you think Duncan will play...his knee has been holding him out of games lately...and they have nothing to play for. SA probably still wins, but I don't think Duncan plays..JMHO

Oklahoma City Thunder is the play... Young team who just wants to win, versus a team who would actually rather lose... Plus, the Clips are fvcking wretched. And Randolph possibly out (?)

Cleveland - 1 QTR, 1st Half
Cavs want to finish the season at home 40-1. They also will want to rest the King and company... to do so, look for them jump out the gate strong.

Trying to cap these last few games of the season is like trying to stick a wet noodle up a wildcat's ass.

I'm going very LIGHT on the NBA tonight, maybe just a small parlay. Baseball is heating up and CK is already in form with his picks.

Pacers team over seems good, they have been a scoring machine latley, especially at home. Like memphis tonight as well. I watched the entire ATL game last night and their reserves are pretty bad..starters played first 6 minutes of the first and first 6 minutes of the third, sat the rest of the game. Chicago will want to win its last home game, like them too.

Forget about all these picks with too many unknowns and assumptions that need to be made. Take the Golden State-Phoenix UNDER WHATEVER. It is going to be very inflated because of the lack of defense and abundance of offense these two teams have shown all year. Phoenix can not put up Phoenix type numbers (they are much better on defense with the backups and worse on offense) without the starters in for the majority of the game. Golden State almost ran out of players the other day literally. This game will be high scoring but will not go over. Dragic, Dudley, Lopez, Amundson, and Tucker along with the fact that GS will not have Monta, Crawford, Magette, Jackson, Wright and Bellinelli = UNDER Also take a look at all of these meaningless games as of late. Most of them have been going under (ie Heat/Hawks that went 30pts under off the top of my head). Refer to my stats also because Golden State and Phoenix have been playing nothing but meaningless games lately.

Under is 4-1-1 for Golden State last 6
Under is 3-1 for Phoenix last 4

I wouldn't bet a ton on this but I think its worth a small play. The only reason I wouldn't go HEAVY on this play is because the Suns played all their starters last home game vs Memphis for 30+ minutes. This hadn't been the case for the Suns in the last couple of games berfore where the bench got the majority of the minutes.

Stay away from the Spurs. The are at -8, at thegreek.com. That line is terribly inflated. The Books must feel that CP3 will not play much, and Duncan/Parker play for the crowd. I'm staying off because I capped at a much lower line, and I usually go the other way. Chandler is playing, but who knows how effective he will be??? The Spurs have more to gain in this game, as seen in this ESPN preview------

San Antonio (53-28) is tied with Houston for the Southwest lead, but the Rockets own the tiebreaker. The Spurs must beat New Orleans (49-32) and hope Houston loses at Dallas for San Antonio to win the division and gain the No. 3 seed in the West.

And Hornets look locked in at their position, but I'm still staying away.

Celtics vs. Wizards injury report---

The Celtics (61-20) still won't have Kevin Garnett in the lineup when they face Washington, although the team maintains that the star forward will be ready for the start of the postseason. Ray Allen and Paul Pierce also likely won't play Wednesday as they rest up for the playoffs.

The Wizards may also be without leading scorer and rebounder Antawn Jamison, who left Monday night's 97-96 loss to Toronto with an ankle injury.

Take the Under.

I Only like Cleveland (-2) at home to keep the record clean - I've played this one super heavy for my standards $800 and UNDER at PHX (nice write up sweetjones55)

good luck all
