In the closing stages of the regular season, fatigue is building up in the legs of even the deepest of rosters. From now til the playoffs, I'm going to fade every team with proven fatigue issues (combined with sensible handicapping where necessary):
b2b:
Utah JAZZ 3-14 (17.6%)
b2b vs +.500 teams:
New York KNICKS 0-8 (0.0%)
1 Unit Plays:
Portland ML & Denver ML -194
Portland ML & Denver -12 +170
With Portland manhandling Utah last night, the fatigue and terrible b2b record was clearly a factor in that match-up.
b2b:
Sacramento KINGS 3-16 (15.8%)
Charlotte and the Lakers are both good b2b teams, so they're no plays. Detroit are a poor b2b team, but they're jostling for playoff position and playing the lowly Nets who appear to have packed it up for the season, so that's a no play aswell.
With Detroit looking p*sspoor at NJ yesterday, that was definitely the play. Today the Bucks and Wiz are playing b2b.
Milwaukee BUCKS 9-12 (42.9%)
In the last two back-ends of a b2b on the road, they've shot an average of 37%, and have been generally terrible all season in that scenario. Everyone's wondering how effective Philly will be without Thaddeus Young, but teams have consistently found another gear all season when losing key players. That's not enough comfort for me to take -7.5 though; the line is too high on Philly and I'm going to play it safe and take the ML for 2 units.
Washington WIZARDS 1-16 (5.9%)
1-16 says it all. The Wizards always play the Cavs tight, but the fatigue factor will diminish their chances of keeping up with the Cavs for the full 48.
76ers ML (3 units) -340
76ers ML + Cavs ML (2 units) -196
