The NBA is back!!!

As I posted last week, these are my 2 plays for the season opener! Since I jumped on these early, the prices have moved significantly! The Heat have gone from -2.5 out to -4.5 and the Clippers have gone from +1.5 (I bet them SU @ 2.06) out to -5.5 Fav! Hope you all took these early.

Miami @ Dallas
ATS - HEAT -2.5 (x1)

In the Rematch of last years Finals, Miami must travel to Dallas and watch as they unveil the Championship flag! As if they needed any reminder.... I really like the Heat again this year and it's not hard to see why. They have kept their core unit in tack and added a few handy pieces in Battier and Curry to add to their depth. The biggest plus for Miami is this is their 2nd year together and that in itself is huge! As dominant as they were last year, I expect them to improve given the time they have all spent together learning each others games and gelling.

Dallas on the other hand will still be a force in the West but I expect them slip back a little. While they have added Odom And Carter, They have lost Chandler, Butler, Berea and Stevenson! This will hurt them on both ends of the floor! Dallas unlike Miami will need some time to gel.

Miami will have been waiting for this game to come since lasts years final! Not only are the Heat more talented they have a Huge revenge angle here as well! Miami will get the job done and spoil the Mavs party!

LA Clippers @ Golden State

I liked the Clippers last year and now the "other" team in LA just became "THE" team in LA! The additions of CP3, Billips and Butler are as big as it gets! Add these guys to one of the most promising talents I have seen in Griffen and young center Jordan and this Clippers team looks awesome!

The Clippers open their season again the Warriors in Golden State. As I stated earlier I jumped on this game as soon as the CP3 trade became official and over the last week or so the price as moved enormously! Paul is the perfect fit for this group and will bring the best out of the 2 young big men! I really like Butler, he can create his own shot and will release plenty of offensive pressure from both Paul and Griffen. He is the perfect 3 man. Another important piece is Billips! If he accepts his role and becomes the 2 guard, he too will add that fall back for Paul as he is more than capable of running the offense, creating his own shot or simply be a support and hit that spot up shot! Alot to like about the Clips in 2012!

Golden state were amoungst plenty of trade talks but amounted to nothing! Curry is a stud! And will be once again the star of this team. Ellis is solid but selfish. And Lee is also solid but needs a big defensive presence next to him! The Warriors will again score a ton of points but they stink defensively! Something I'm sure new coach Jackson will be trying to improve. But this will take time.

Tonight will be the Clippers night! Far to much talent and unless Curry and or Ellis have career nights I see them winning this one well!

Milwaukee Bucks At Charlotte Bobcats
ATS - BUCKS -3.5 (x1)

I like the Bucks to start their season off with a win in Charlotte today! I see Milwalkee as a team on the rise. The lockout actually did them a favour as they were crippled with injury last season. Bogut has had extra time to fully recover and will be keen on a big year! The bucks are a solid team, one of the best defensively, and with the addition of Jackson, Dunleavy & Udrih, they should pick up on offense.

The Bobcats are going through a development phase right now. With 2 rookies as likely starters based around Henderson, Diaw & Maggette it could be a long year for MJ. They traded both Wallace to Portland(during last season) and Jackson to the Bucks to advance in the draft. They are aware they have to suffer some pain now for long term gain. That pain will be felt right here. Quite simply Milwaukee are a much more talented side and I expect Jackson to have extra motivation to stick it up his former team tonight.

Oklahoma City Thunder At Minnesota Timberwolves
1st H - THUNDER -2.5 (x1.5)

KD and the Thunder face B2B games to kick off their season. Normally a spot I avoid, but with the shortened season teams will be faced with a lot more of these than usual. OKC dominated Orlando last night and look to be a team full of confidence and on a mission! Their stars got plenty of rest during this game as it was over by 1/2 time.

They travel to Minnesota to face a young team with plenty of talent having added rookies Williams and Rubio. These two will join forces with Love and Beasely and will definately be on the improve in 2012. It will obviously take time but the Wolves are heading in the right direction finally. Having said that, tonight's opener against one of the top seeds in the league will prove to steep a task!

I have taken the Thunder 1st half as I expect them to carry on their form early and may tire later in the game being on B2B and traveling. Also I expect this young Wolves side to be a little rusty 1st game into their season. I still don't think the Thunder should have to much troubles winning their 2nd game of the year here.

I'm rolling with Atlanta to get their season off to a good start today against the Nets in New Jersey. The Hawks have been around the mark for the last few years now. But probably had a disappointing year last year with their key players numbers down. They have stuck with the same core group minus Crawford and by adding vets McGrady, Stackhouse they are showing confidence within. The message from within the locker room is "No Excuses" so clearly it's time for this group to take that next step!

They face the Nets returning home on B2B after a huge come from behind win over a young Washington side, Lead by their star guard Williams and big man Humphries who had a huge 21 & 16 night! Williams will continue to star all year but I don't expect this kind of output from Kris week in week out. Already without their big man Lopez, New Jersey lack depth and the Hawks will stretch them here with duo Smith & Horford expected to see a lot of the ball on offense, along with Johnson who will be looking for a big year.

Atlanta will be without hindrich, but I like what I saw in the playoffs in Teague. He will push the ball and increase the tempo. Atlanta are simply more talented and have more depth. They catch the Nets in a good spot, B2B, potential let down coming of big come from behind win on the road and minus Lopez! Hawks cover the 2 buckets tonight!

The Knicks got the 1st win out the way with a big performance against the Celtics. While that was impressive the C's were undermanned. Melo was huge and dominated in the 4th Q! The Warrioirs are now playing their third game, going 1-1 so far. Big news for this one is Curry may miss! This is huge! Even with Curry I still lean the Knicks as I like their size inside with Chandler and Stoudamire.

I still have question marks on the Warriors defense and depth. Now if Curry misses this team will struggle on both ends. I like the Knicks to be 2-0 and move to being a dominate force in the East!

Los Angeles Clippers At San Antonio Spurs
1st Q - CLIPPERS +1.5 (x1)

The Clippers 1st Q was one of my favorite bets last season! They are a extremely good starting side. While this new group will take a little time to fully gel, I liked what I saw last start against the Warriors on the road. Especially how they finished. The confidence of the young core Griffen and Jordan will be through the roof with CP3 on board.

The Spurs overcame a slow start against Memphis to register a big win! This was somewhat of a revenge spot for the Spurs after last years 1st round loss in the playoffs. Is this a letdown spot??? I wouldn't think so, this Spurs side while aging are still very good! Especially at home. But I like the Clippers to jump out of the blocks here and take it right up to this veteran side.

I was leaning the Celtics here already to get their 1st win on the board. But news is Gordon is out for the Hornets! Their offense will really struggle with out their new star. While the Celtics are on B2B and 3rd road game, They have had good efforts, falling short against the Knicks and Heat. This is a much easier opponent and is just what the Celtics need!

NBA THURSDAY:

San Antonio Spurs At Houston Rockets

Rolling with the Spurs today over the Rockets on the road. San Antonio has taken care of two very capable sides in Memphis and the Clippers. I don't think they are given the respect they deserve. They are still a very solid side! The Lockout definately suits a side that is experienced and healthy. The lack of preseason wouldn't have effected the Spurs like other younger sides or sides with big changes in personal and or coaches. The Rockets are one of these teams with new head coach McCale trying to put his stamp on this team. This will take time.

While the Spurs are playing B2B and 3rd in 4 days. They managed to rest all their starters in the 4th quarter last night, and being so early in the season this shouldn't affect them as normal. Spurs have to much talent and are full of confidence. They get it done tonight!

New York Knicks At Los Angeles Lakers

Well the Knicks came crashing back down to earth last night! Falling badly on the road to a Warriors side still learning new game style under new coach and missing their best player Curry! One thing I took from this game was the Knicks are easily frustrated and may struggle against good defensive teams. The Warriors have improved out of site already in this area, as have the Lakers under new coach Brown!

The Lakers are 1-3 but this includes a heartbreaking loss to the Bulls @ home, then faced the Kings in their home opener on B2B and finally in their B2B2B defeated the Jazz at home. All this was without Bynum and he will serve the final game of his 4 game suspension tonight.

The Lakers have had a rest and will have cofindence now with their 1st win. Playing at home is a big advantage here also. New York now have to regroup from last nights disater and play the 2nd of their b2b games here on the road. Lakers get it done tonight!

New Jersey Nets At Atlanta Hawks

These two teams play each other again so early into the season. The Hawks demolished the Nets in NJ in the 1st match by 36pts!So while this is a revenge spot for the Nets they are also playing the 2nd of a 3 game road trip, on a b2b and playing 4th in 5 days! Not to mention they will again be without Lopez! This team is really struggling, their start to the season has resulted in losses by 14, 36 & 16!

Atlanta on the other hand have started 2-0 with wins over the Nets and Wizards. They have looked sharp and full of energy. I like Teague starting PG, he is quick and pushes the ball. Basically the Nets are in a terrible spot and the Hawks are rested, are at home and playing very well. Can't see NJ keeping up here. Hawks win big again.

Philadelphia 76ers At Utah Jazz

The 76ers are in the middle of a long 5 game road trip to start the season. So far they are 1-1 after beating Pheonix easily a few nights back. I like this team they have plenty of depth and are solid in all positions across the court. The Jazz have lost their 1st 2 opening games on the road badly! While their opposition was tough they showed very little! This will be their home opener I'm just not sure where this team is going?

Both teams have had a days rest. The form of the 76ers in their last start will install plenty of confidence and will get the job done here with a small line to cover!

Chicago Bulls At Los Angeles Clippers

The Clips have moved from favs to outsiders in this one with the line up 1/2 a point more now than when I took it last night. I still like the Clippers here tonight so have added extra 1/2 unit!

They have started the season 1-1, both on the road. Remember how terrible they were on the road last year so this is an improvement already! Tonight is their home opener! Their first chance to unveil their new stars in front of what will be a sellout!

The Bulls have been here before! For the Lakers opener. This will be their 4th game on the road to start the season and are on b2b games after defeating the Kings last night. The Bulls look a little rusty to me. They are 2-1 but they stole the win from the Lakers, struggled badly against the Warriors which was also a b2b spot and looked far from convincing against a young Sacramento team.

The Clippers get the Bulls in a huge fatigue spot even this early into the season. They will be keen to return home and get a little practice in. I like the match ups for the Clippers here also. The Bulls best player Rose now is matched up against CP3! and if that's not enough they have Billips and Mo Williams! I also think Boozer and Noah will stubble with the length and hops of both Griffin and Jordan.

I like the Clippers to put on a show for the home fans and get a win against a tired Bulls team today!

Phoenix are on b2b and coming of a big road win last night! Let down spot here also playing 3rd in 4 days. Very tough on older teams as we have seen with the Celtics and Spurs. This Suns team is no where near in the same category as these two teams. Huge fatigue fade tonight for the Suns!

The Thunder have had 2 days rest! Almost unheard of in this 66 game season! They are in fine touch an have a 3-0 record. I expect OKC to put this one beyond doubt early. The Thunder have a potential look ahead game with Dallas coming up so 1st H is my bet!

New York is playing it's last of this road trip and will be glad to return home after lossing badly in it's first 2 road games to Golden State and the Lakers. Big news is Stoudamire will miss this match so this puts enormous pressure on Chandler who has been less than impressive so far for his new team. I also expect Melo to take a lot more shots which may not be a good thing!

The Kings have been ok going 1-2 but against solid opponents! This is a young group and are still learning to play as a team. I like this young group to grab a home win against a banged up NY team on it's 3rd road game!

I know Houston are playing b2b2b games hers but they have been very well managed as far as minutes go. Also they are a relatively young side. I am more fading the Hawks tonight as the play their 2nd of a b2b on the road and this is their 4th game in 5 days! This is a massive fatigue spot for the Hawks. After watching them Yesterday struggle to put away the Nets @ home, I can't see them getting through this one on the road against a dangerous Houston side! Rockets get the win tonight!

Boston Celtics At Washington Wizards

Rolling with Boston on the road today in Washington. The Celtics welcomed back their leader Paul Pierce last game and more importantly got their first win of the season! Pierce makes a huge difference to this team as he basically allows everyone else to just play their rolls. Heis the go to man and can create at anytime, either for himself or setting up one of his teammates.

Washington is still winless after 3 games and is really struggling on offense. A match up against this Celtics team won't help matters at all!I see the Celtics going on with it now. That 1st win will give this very solid group all the confidence in the world and expect them to come out strong against a struggling Wizards outfit!

Adding the Hornets today playing at Sacramento. Word is Cousins has demanded a trade and will not play tonight! On top of this the Kings are on the 2nd of a b2b after being embarrassed last night against the Knicks and are playing their 3rd in 4 days! Tough spot for this unsettled young team!

While Gordon is still doubtful to play tonight I still like the Hornets to grind out a win here. Happy to take the points
