I don't think Philly has the mental toughness to beat Boston in Boston and would not be surprised to see Boston beat up on Philly in this first game just like the bulls did and would have continued to do had they not suffered injuries to their best players. Philly does not have a consistent scoring presence or team leadership like Boston. I think their mental weakness will be their undoing. I hope you are investing with your head and not your heart with this one. Good luck.
Completely agree regular season doesn't mean much. Each of those games were unique situations. But the sixers have given Boston problems for 5 years running now. Basketball-wise, their defensive energy makes things tough and Holiday makes things tough on Rondo.

But the 76ers are a young team riding on an emotional high right now and we've seen in the past how that often leads to the. underdog stealing game 1. Sharps pounded philly out of the gate so they are thinking thats what could very well happen here.

The big advantage for Boston here is there experience obviously. Late in games they play with a lot more poise. I think just about every game in this series comes down to the wire but that the Celtics pull most of them out. But you have to remember that with old teams things can turn bad quickly. Boston was very hot/cold this season because sometimes these older players just don't have that extra step they need.

GL though the rest of the way.

You are correct. They did try to foul, but Conley broke loose and ran down the court, threw the ball high up in the air before he could get fouled and when it landed the game was over.

Perhaps this early Philly money is just setting up for a big buyback on Boston. Remember, until the limits open up, we really don't know what the sharps are fully thinking. I mean, I would have passed at -6, but -5 is more palatable. We'll see, I like Boston to win this first game and the series. However, I think Philly will have some success as well and take a few games. Just not this first one. GL to you as well....keep killing the books.

Why play the side on this LTA? I'm with t-wizzle on this one, series will be tight and games too. So why the prediction on the first game? Didn't work out with Denver last round. Two side plays after that were bang on though. I'd rather take Denver ML today (and might do) than pick any side in this game. The under 170 looks much better to me.

    DEN/LAL under looks great though.

I explained my reasoning in my response to TWizz. In addition, and to expound a bit, I think Philly is getting too much credit in this series, but especially in this first game. First and foremost, they have never been in this position before and they acted like they won the Championship when they beat the depleted Bulls. I expect a big let down tonight. Remember last season when the Heat beat the Celtics in the 2nd round and cried like little girls as if they had actually won something. That is just like how Philly responded after beating the Bulls. Well, the Heat ended up getting beaten up by the Bulls in the first game of their series because of an emotional letdown and I would not be surprised to see Philly do the same. On the other hand, Boston knows how much focus it takes to get it done in the playoffs. Philly is mentally weak already and when you add a little hangover effect from their series win over the Bulls, that leads me to expect a letdown from Philly today. When you combine those qualititative factors to the statistical advantage that Boston has and to me this is Boston's series and game 1 to lose.

To be honest, however, I am really not concerned about this side play win or lose. I am watching the total and praying for a high scoring game. If this one goes over by 10 or more points, we are going to get a ton of value on the under in game 2 and I will come out swinging with a 5x play. As long as the over hits tonight, I will be happy....

Nice, now I kinda don't want my under 170 bet to win . BOL on the Celts play at any rate!

I think that two biggest things going against Boston are the fact that Pierce looks very bad and his injury needs some rest and he won't get it.
Another thing is that Sixers made amazing win and I think that most people couldn't believe the way that game finished. If Collins will know how to use this momentum and carry it on to this game, Sixers can do some damage.
Also, historically it's known that first game of the series always biggest chance for an upset.
I'm hardly ever play anything in first games of the series and this one won't be any different.
Good luck to you if you play anything.

Under in Staples Center makes perfect sense, since I doubt Denver will score anything close to 95 points and Lakers won't score above 105+ points as well.
Should be 98 - 87 type of game or something close to it.
Kobe and Mike Brown talked mostly about defensive effort, Artest should bring some defense as well and Game 7 for young Nuggets can really turn in to massacre.

    Good luck tonight!

One last point I wanted to add against Boston bet and that is that experience can actually be against you on this one. Because they are so experienced, that leads them to being slightly cocky in my eyes. They won't be scared should Sixers win this one and will still be confident they will go to the next round.
Sixers on the other hand, been waiting for this moment for a very long time and should come really fired up because of their youthfulness as well.

Also, there also 5 points Boston need to cover, on top of winning and we have seen that out of the 3 games in Boston in 1st round, Boston won all 3, but covered only one.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not supporting Sixers play here.
I just don't see value on the Celtics and probably do lean slightly towards the Sixers.

Hope you win your Boston bet though!

LTA, do you know what is the highest number of points you have beaten the closer by this season? This one is at 193 juiced at -115 at Pinny with 1 hour till tipoff

  11. #10896

^ forgot to say, excluding major injures announced after locking a play in

Great call LTA. Even with the final 3 pointer and slew of fouls it was no where near to being in jeopardy.

Looking forward to more playoff plays ...

Great call LTA, felt the same as you 'bout the game, was my biggest play of the year so far (except for that bulls/sixers under). Great win

    Play #1

    76'ers/Celtics under (175) 2x (Locked)

Pinny just opened at 174 with -110 on the over and my local is giving me 175. I am going to jump on this now because I'm not sure this one gets above that number and my local's website might drop it down to 174.5 soon. I might add to this if I can still get a good number when the ref assignments are released. I will have a full writeup for this one later on today or tomorrow. For now, I am rolling with the under for 2x. Good luck.

Can't believe I let the Clippers escape at + 8. You have any thoughts on that game? Seems like CP3 and Blake might not be that bad after all

  25. #10910

Clips just can't score and they let the best chance to advance get by them. They can't feel good about that. I see double digits for the Griz.

I see an easy win for Memphis, clips will really struggle to score 80 in this IMO. Respect your opinion, what's your angle on them? I'm on grizzlies -7 and teasing down Miami and Memphis in a parlay

I really hope the Clips win because I think the Spurs handle them easily and we can make some money. However, a Grizz win and you have the Spurs revenge factor going, but I think Memphis matches up better with the Spurs.

Clippers may get swept by the spurs but Memphis can arguably beat anyone in the west. I really expected Memphis to come out stronger in the 1st half, still plenty of time and the refs are on my side. I'm thinking about blindly playing every under in the playoffs, it's insane

Never got a sniff at the 175 LTA, curious where you have this one set and how much value remains at 174.

Appreciate the intention Tom , but those familiar with LTA's plays know that he almost invariably posts where his model has the game set. If he has it set at 173 I would likely pass, but if it is 172 or lower I would consider the play.
