Cool How do YOU handicap basketball?

Share your routine, in as few, or many words as possible when approaching a slate of NBA games.

    Default team totals

I like playing team totals in the 1st quarter. So far this season I am 4-0 on team total over/unders in the 1st quarter.

So much can happen over the course of 4 quarters, NBA is so streaky, so much so that I also prefer quarters and halves, and generally find them to be more profitable.

    Default 1st quarter team totals

You can count your winnings in about 35 minutes after tipoff. You do not have to spend 2 hours hoping and praying that you win.

Don't listen to Tab he is absolutely insane. He definitely has made a deal with the devil, has a crystal ball or has some kind of time machine. This guy is never wrong on 1st quarter totals. I don't know how he does it, capping the 1st quarter espcially a total is nearly impossible but somehow he does it and he is never wrong. You are a freak Tab.

This is my answer also.. Knowing the game is you're best tool to capping Bball & Injurys.. But no offence to the others but Stats, Trends, ect.. ect.. really dont play to much in me capping games. Watching the games knowing the players the teams & coachs will do you best when Capping/Picking plays.

I typically only bet NCAA bball. I usually play a 2 team parlay (both unc & dook MLs) & then even if the bet loses, I still win

yea i dont like using trends cuz i feel their typically caused by the teams makeup from past years which might change, see spurs for example lol. Man to man matchups and how the teams playing are always good tools. Homecourt advantage and how well teams play on the road or at home

I have my own power ratings that I use to make NBA lines , been doing it for almost 7 years...I come up with a number , then I adjust it based on Off vs Off and def vs def for both teams..I also tweak the numbers based on injuries and days without/with rest.I look at matchups where strong division teams face weak ones and so on...
I compare my refined line to whats on the market and make my decisions..

I almost never lay double digit favs..

try to predict which team will have more energy

look at which team has had more days off recently, and which team has travelled less

home court advantage is also huge in basketball because of shooting sight lines, etc
