I usually take 4 cars at better than +400 to win, trying to put a big longshot into the mix. Some top 3's and 5's. Rarely head to head.

Is there live betting? That would be cool.

I have found some good scalps on head to head. Nice illiquid market.

Head to head matchups are going to be your bread and butter. With head to head you have a 50% chance to win. Your pick doesn't have to win the race or finish in the top five just beating the other driver is all that is needed to cash your ticket.

H2H is easier than those long shots to finish. Too many crashes can ruin the best drivers.

3 drivers, same units on all, with odds that pay a profit if one of the 3 wins. I might check out head to head matchups this season.

Just take it slow and gather information as you go.

Can you bet head 2 head, your car vs another whichever finishes best? Without "the top 5" finish restriction etc? That's the kicker

Yes. All your driver has to do is finish ahead of the driver in your head to head matchup. Your driver could finish 40th but the other driver could be 43rd and you still cash your ticket.

Many races will include a betting entry called "Field," which is all other drivers besides the ones listed by the sportsbook. Even though a bettor gets more than one driver with one wager, the field almost always consists of those drivers given the least opportunity to win and is usually best avoided.

So I could match up JJ against some scrap driver? I realize their is a lot of adversity that occurs during these races but I appreciate the clarification.

No, I am not 100% on this but I am pretty sure the head to head matchups are already listed. I don't think you can pick and choose.

Head to head seems to be a decent way to bet this..given there is no restrictions

I disagree. Restrictor plate races are perfect for betting the field.

When I used to live and breathe Nascar, I used to bet the head-2-head matchups. The book will pick the pair. You just get to choose which one has a higher finish. Every now and then, there is a real opportunity. Typically this comes in one of the following forms:

    1. Two drivers in similar form as of late, but the next race is at a track where one driver consistently outshines the other.
    2. Two drivers who typically do well at a track, but only one is in good form at the moment.
    3. One driver in the pair had serious tire issues in the last race at a sister track. This can be an indicator of setup challenges on the car. [These aren't always easily fixed, but a decent driver who has a teammate with a good setup to share typically won't suffer in the next race.]

When I didn't see one of these opportunities, I laid off. I never found another edge.

Ok... I respect your opinion... for me just it does not work very well

If they are not already chosen the odds on JJ over a crap driver would be -700 or something so it's not worth it. Anyone can get knocked out of a race & there you are

There are a bunch of different ways, but you can make much more money in other sports.

true but in some races you almost know who will win and you will still get decent odds on them, like +400 to +600
