Alright boys were off to popular TALLADEGA track this weekend!!...hopefully can keep up the luck ive had on the plate tracks the last few years, but need luck just as much as any capping skills at these tracks...but race will be much different than last few here since the changes nascar has made to the cars going into the 2012 season...remember daytona was mostly back to pack racing, with a little bit of tandem sprinkled in there...but things can change quick in this sport so we will just have to wait and see when they get on the track this friday..

Talladega is a 2.66 mile tri-oval track..33 degrees banking in the turns, with 16.5 down the frontstrech and 2 degrees on the backstretch...the frontstretch is 4,300ft long while the backstretch is 4,000ft long

still having a great start to the 2012 season winning and picking race winners in 6 of 9 point races so far this year...1 great thing about plate tracks, are the odds are usually all double-digits (or close to it) and winning these races usually pays off big...on top of that it makes it easier to have more selections and still win big

as always any options/insight from regular OPs on this thread are always welcome and have really helped everybody in preparing for bets every week...i really appreciate all the input, and so does every1 else im sure...so thank you all in advance

im starting to watch the last 3-4 races at Talladega this morning(doesnt matter to watch them for this race with all the changes to car since last event really, but its my routine so im doing it anyways...lol) and getting out my driver notebooks and track notebook for DEGA...hope we all have a good weekend of racing and look forward to hearing from everybody this week!!!

PRACTICES: both are FRIDAY and 2pm and 3:30 pm (est) both airing on SPEED channel

QUALIFYING: SATURDAY at noon airing on SPEED channel

SPRINT CUP RACE: SUNDAY starts airing at NOON on FOX

just hope my luck continues on plate tracks

there have actually been a few great drivers at dega last few years, harvick and bowyer have been $$$$$$

bowyer is only driver to have top 10 last 4 races there, including 2 wins and happy has 3/4 top 10s, and won too

1 thing i will say is dega isnt as much of a crap shoot as daytona has been statistically

there are a few guys that are MUST have

bowyer beats all others driver ratings by almost 30 points over last 4 races

then again, he and happy arent teammates anymore either, so not sure they will be hooked up like years past or the whole race

hasnt been any suprise winner at DEGA since vickers at '06, so still crapshhot, the big dogs and good plate guys still win here usually


be interesting to see how the changes to the cars will look for dega...sure worked at daytona

Although I wish it was for Marcos. The last 2 races the communication between Ambrose and Parrot has sounded awful on the scanner. Marcos sounds like he has no faith in the guy and Parrot just sounds snippy more than half the time.

i think he and harvick will be hooked up alot since bowyer with MWR this year(why i bet bowyer/truex jr already), plus burton actually always a solid plate driver(best dega avg actually of 12)

even though it will be mostly pack racing im thinking, still probably have break away groups coming to the checkers

fun when damn favorites are 11-1, everybody long odds u dobnt need to be as picky as usual, but still wont decide exactly til weekend who i will keep adding to and who i leave for my "cover" wagers this week from some of these picks

but waiting on odds to get better on non-favorites closer to racetime like usual weeks, doesnt happen in plate tracks very much

even the huge longshots arent near as long as they usually will be so taking more than usual early usually always helps me on the plate track odds

I had Gordon to win it last year, he had a great car, i was 300 yards from finish line he was winning it going to the Checker, Martin lost air and quit pushing him, Jr. pushed Jimmie to the win, it happen so quick i thought Gordon won it. +1300 Pre-Qualifying ain't to bad to spinkle a few$$$ on, but then again maybe its cause he owes me for last year.
