    Default SOO Game 1

its that time of year, very exicited, they talking up the biff in the media not sure if it wll happen, but should be very high quality game, love idris on the bench great move... as a punter i think the blues were great value, cam smith out, maybe a bit off rain, at home, should suit the blues more, any thoughts?

ralphie... s-o-o stands for state of origin. it's the upcoming annual three match rugby league series between the australian states of queensland and new south wales.

qld is known as the maroons or the 'canetoads'.

nsw are the blues or the 'cockroaches'.

in many respects, it's kind of like america's civil war... only more bloody and without the gettysburg address.

good value on the blues at 1.95. I think we will get better odds before Wednesday though.

origin eve... and the odds for the blues have been going down like lara bingle at a bucks night.

despite having maroon blood in my veins, i booked nsw last friday at 2.10. they're mid-to-high 1.90s now... and will probably be favourites by game time.

i don't know why the books initially had qld at 1.60. i think they'll struggle. lockyer is now 'good' rather than 'great'. thurston is fragile. petero is on a zimmer frame... and cameron smith will be watching from the grandstand.

the blues are solid out wide... big up front... and experienced in the halves, although noddy kimmorley could find the going tough.

has anyone seen the forecast match total? i suspect it'll be around 36. if so, i can see nsw taking game one 26-10... or 24-8. i might ponder an under bet if the number is sweet.

hope you enjoy the show, domestic.

    good luck all.

Yeah i think it will be around 36, if it rains like it has been tomorrow could even be in the low 30's. Good job getting the blues @ 2.10.

Initially liked NSW, but now am hesitant with the hammering of the line.

might have to do the whole fade the public and myself thing here and go with canetoads. Maybe Billy, Greg and Israel will have a good performance behind there props go forward.

    Forecast of rain.
Everyone seems to be on the Blues, I might wait till the kick and fade the public.

Not in syd but goto bom.gov.au to check radar, pissing down there and set to continue. Heard Robert Finch on the radio yesterday saying they will be lenient with penalties eg. not many. Origin games historically low scored. All points to an UNDER. Gonna drop a dime on it I think. Thinking it will be 32-34.5 game total.

Very low total line but it is pretty damn wet here at the moment, may only be a 2-3 try game.

I live 5 minutes from the stadium.... Its stopped rainning for now, but has been pissing down since last night so obviously the grounds completely soaked. The wind hasn't died down at this point, still quite a bit windy.

Agreed, bizarre game, poorly refereed. QLD with too many gamebreakers.

congrats to those who had the maroons. i'm going to cop a lot of crap this morning at work for tipping against my own state. it's gonna be a looooooooong day.

a four point game... but the score flattered nsw. they were listless, disinterested and lacked passion. it certainly is a golden era for qld.

Damn, NSW are really over their heads atm, glad i changed my bet to QLD in the end...don't see them havin any real chance to win the series let alone 1 game. The score did not reflect the real gulf between the sides...Hope most cashed tho

Hopefully the NRL give the refs orders to extend the series to a meaningful game 3. I don't think many people will turn up for a dead rubber game 3, NSW fans are fed up with the selectors.

Only a sprinkle for a few seconds during the game, there had been torrential rain all day until 5pm last night. ANZ stadium turf held up really well.
