Default 2010 AFL season thread

Hey guys im starting this thread cause the AFL season is almost upon us, only 5 days away. Last year I started playing multi's or parlay as they call them in the USA.
I would pick up to 8 matches a week using pick your own line.
I always try and get at least $2.00 for the multi and put at least 1 unit or $100 on it, more depending how much i like it, i put $1500 on one last year.
Id like to think i know my AFL pretty well and made quite a bit of money last year doing this, but i only started mid year, this time i start from round 1!!!

I will post my picks the day of the first game of the round....as there always seem to be changes on the day of the match.
Feel free to post your comments and any knowledge you might have of injuries etc....
Lets take the bookies money this year and clean em up.
I will be using CentreBet.com for whoever wants to know.

Cheers and good luck with your bets

hey there nocode looking forward to round one it's been far to long of a wait for this but it's finally here. Haven't heard of someone playing the 'pick you own line' before but it's certainly a great way to bet. I had great season on it last year so can't wait to hurt centrebet soon
I'll be on here every week let's collect boys

Heys guys just looking at centrebet and saw some odds for round 1, they only have +24 and +39 for now but they will have it next Tuesday. However what i have below is very similar to what i would pick in round 1 anyway give a point or 2.
Im staying out of the Geelong and Hawthorn games as they are too short to buy points and dont trust em in round 1, even though Hawthorn are playing Melbourne(bottom side last year) they have quite a few injuries and it might be closer than you think.
Geelong on the other hand had a poor pre season after winning the premiership and might have a 1st round letdown, plus they will face a young Essendon side without any old dead wood this season, so jump being safe 1st round.
Let me know what you guys think.

1.14 CARLTON (Handicap +24.5)
1.15 ST KILDA (Handicap +24.5)
1.10 BRISBANE (Handicap +24.5)
1.13 PORT ADELAIDE (Handicap +24.5)
1.18 WESTERN BULLDOGS (Handicap +24.5)
1.13 FREMANTLE (Handicap +39.5)
Legs : 6
2.17

although to be honest first round is not always the best one to put money on, the teams have changed you cant cap them using last years data

Great call there nocode agree Geelong and hawthorn are way under the odds for round 1 as history shows us. Love the PYOL, there short odds but great bets especially when you can give the winners u think points in. I'll post up my weekly bets when it's time. GL all

I agree totally but im giving points in...cant see the swans winning by more than 24 so ive got st.kilda +24.5, same with Coll, got the bulldogs +24.5 and i actually think freo can win and have them +39.5, as for Essendon im staying out of that one Geelong too short

Dont think Brad Johnson will have any impact in that game, he hasnt played any pre-season games at all. I think the pies will give a good account of themselves but not sure they can win....the games at Etihad and the bulldogs love playing there

Yep kingsr...done the $500 and $1000 thing also....if you know your stuff and give teams starts you should only loose a couple a season.

Im looking to go at least 18-4 during the AFL season.....my goal profit wise is $4000 anything more is a bonus....good luck

I reall dont think Carl v Rich is a toss up.

Sure, The Blues have lost Fev, and everyone is worried about their forward line, but they have also shed all the backroom sh!t that comes with Fev, which will definitely make them more united.
Richmond have a few good younger kids but their key guys are some of the most unefficient players in the AFL.
Bottom line, Carlton are better right across the ground (even without Judd playing) and should win this by a few goals at least.

As for Adel V Freo. Adelaide have been smashed with injuries through pre-season and its never easy heading to Subi round 1, but the Crows should only be missing 2 maybe 3 majors and i think that still leaves them strong enough to get over Freo.

You never know though, the AFL can be a strange place in round 1...
