    Did we really dominate?

    I mean, Germany and Canada won more gold medals.

    We had 37 total medals.

    Germany had 30.

    Our results were almost identical to the Salt Lake games, except we got three more bronze.

    But then again, I guess you are trying really hard to generate posts here aren't you Fish?

    Yeah, Canada almost doubled us up in Gold Medals.

    But facts aren't usually that important in Fish threads.

    Never again will the winter games be dominated like we did. Never again will a country win more medals. The funny part is that the winter games is the USA's weakness.

    The USA is the most athletic empire that ever existed, nobody even close.

    300 million 37 medals
    30 million 26 medals

    Canada averages 1 medal per 1 million people whereas US averages one medal per 9 million people.

    Medal counts shouldn't be taken that seriously because of population and genetic differences. Also, I believe the U.S.'s medal count was largely due to the new sports that we tend to be big on, relative to other countries, if I'm not mistaken.

    I prefer to calculate them as follows:
    Gold = 3pts
    Silver = 2pts
    Bronze = 1pt

    Under that rubric we still won by a healthy margin.

    How many people live in your country have no bearing on how many athletes you produce. People become citizens of a country just to compete.

    And calculate this into your reply. 49 top 5 finishes for the U.S. 49 top 5 finishes for Canada, O did I say 14 Gold for Canada. 14 Gold for Canada!!!
    +300,000,000 Americans.
    +30,000,000 Canadians.
    Is somebody dominating??

    It's written that whomever gets the most Gold Medals wint the Olympic Games period. So Canada won. Doesn't matter if USA dominated. Teams dominate games all the time and still lose. No one cares that they dominated if they lose.

    And the golds to the US was taken in (besides alpine which is cool):

    - Snowboard (cool, but nobody cares)
    - FIgure skating men (says it all)
    - Freestyle skiing (zzz)
    - Bobsleigh..eh..
    - Nordic combined..not bad.
    - Oh, and speed skating

    Default Will a country ever dominate the WINTER GAMES like USA did again?

    No, I'm certain it will never happen again. Records are never broken, performances never topped. I hear there's talk of never holding the Winter Game again because it would be so disrespectful to the American athletes who, let's face it, were god-like in these games. In Greece there is a discussion going on about renaming the Acropolis to Apolo's Crib and erecting a brand-spanking new statue of Ohno which will be slightly higher and centered between the other new statues in honor of Shaun White and Lindsey Vonn.

    As long as sports invented in the US are added into the olympics every year the US will have an advantage.

    Which sports were added this olympics? Does that mean that the Scots will have an advantage in 2016 b/c of the addition of golf?
