    round 3

I am going against ishikawa today,he is a great young player but I don't think he can make enough birdies to stop jaidee

he is a good scrambler but what we are looking for at this point is experience and birdies

jaidee has been on the "world stage" for a few years now and ishikawi will get some valuable experience today

    T Jaidee-100

    par 5s' are important holes

par is not a good score and a bogey is a sin

Ishikawa is 3 under on par fives with 4 birdies and 1 bogey (3pars)

jaidee is 7 under with 5 birdies one eagle and 3 pars

    par 3s' are important holes

par is acceptable, birdies are a win a high % of the time

ishikawa has bogeyed 2 par 3s' had one conceded (no idea of the scores) and has had 5 pars

jaidee has made par on every par 3

par 4s' are the holes you try to break even on just playing chess,,fairway-green-2 putt par with a run at birdie is ideal

jaidee is 4 over par on par 4s' all being bogeys which is important in match play as a bogey doesn't always equal a loss on a par 4 or 3

however he has zero birdies on par 4s'

ishikawa is 2 under par on par 4s' with 6 birdies and 4 bogie's

so ishikawa will have the advantage on par 4s' and jaidee will have the advantage on the the other holes

it looks like ishikawa will have a 2 up advantage on the par 4s' the way I see it.

In one of the player quotes below a player talks about how if a match is tough now you can only expect the next ones to be even tougher

jaidee has played 30 holes to win his matches winning 5-4 and 4-3

ishikawa has played 36 holes winning 2 up(meaning he played the 18th hole with a 1 hole lead and won the 18th )

and 1 up in the other match

so ishikawas' matches have gone right down to the last hole in both matches

the biggest lead ishikawa has had is 2 up

this price looks to be getting better by the hour

    poulter 36 holes played

    singh 35 holes played

    par 4s'

--poulter 3 birdies and 2 bogies

--singh 2 birdies and 2 bogies

    par 5s'

poulter 7 birdies and 1 par

singh 6 birdies and 2 pars

    par 3s'

poulter 7 pars and 1 double bogey

    singh 6 pars and 2 bogie's

singh is a nightmare for an opponent in matchplay because of his steady putting

this is gonna be a great match and while I would like to have poulter I would rather take a chance on the dog in what should be a great match

OLIVER WILSON: No, no. I played nine hole practice round with him at the U.S. Open in, I don't know, 2007, something like that. But I've never played with him. I don't need to play with him to know he's going to be tough. He's very solid tee-to-green. He's relentless, pressure all the time. He's the type of person you don't want to play. It's always better to play someone who's probably going to make a few mistakes. I can't imagine Luke is going to do that. I know he's in good form. It will be a tough match, but I'm looking forward to it

STEVE TODD: Luke, thanks for coming in. Very straightforward day today, 6 and 5. Your thoughts on it.

LUKE DONALD: Yeah, again, another solid day. I hit 5 birdies, no bogeys. Just played very nicely, picked off the par-5s today, made birdies at all four of them and another birdie on the 4th.
And Robert didn't quite have his game today. He only made one birdie on the 2nd. So obviously didn't put too much pressure on me, and I was able to eek out a reasonably easy win today which was nice.

LUKE DONALD: Sure, I'm drawing on the confidence of the last few weeks of hitting the ball very nicely. I've carried that on to this week. I feel good about my game and I think I've made 13 birdies or so in the last 30 holes. I'm hitting good shots and giving myself lots of birdies, which is what you need in match play.

LUKE DONALD: Yeah, this is a long week, and this is actually my fourth week in a row. To finish early is great for me. Again, it's a long week, so the less holes you can play the better

    Q. No problems at all now with the wrist?
LUKE DONALD: I still am working on some of the rotation, the flexibility, in it. The supination is probably about ten degrees less than my right hand, and I'll continue to work on that.

this has a chance of being a good match=danger

CAMILO VILLEGAS: I was trying to play myself. I was trying to be patient. I've been swinging good. I've been working hard on my attitude and I stuck to that one. That's why I say I think patience at the end of the day won the match. I had a good attitude and I just got it done.

cranes first opponent withdrew so he has only played one match

    villegas 32 holes played

    crane 16 holes played

crane zero birdies and 1 bogey

    par 3s'

crane 1 birdie and 1 bogey

SERGIO GARCIA: Obviously very thrilled about getting through to the third round. I don't know, I guess it's just -- it's a funny tournament, this match play, because some years you come here you feel like you're playing unbelievable, and you get beaten in the first or second round. And some years you come here, and you don't feel quite as great and you manage to somehow get around it. So I'm happy about that.
But I still need to get a lot better. I need to get rid of some shots that I'm hitting out there. But I'll take what comes

SERGIO GARCIA: It's like I said before, it's funny how I work sometimes. Like I said, some years you come here and you feel unbelievable, you feel like you're feeling great. You go out and you shoot 6 or 7-under and you lose, and you go home and you think, gee, I'm playing so good and I lost.
And some other years you come and you're struggling a little bit and you're trying to find your game, and you kind of getting it in a round, but not in the nicest way and you manage to win a couple of matches.
So I know that as you get longer or deeper into the week the matches get tougher. I'm not saying that the first ones are easy, but if the first ones are tough then the next get even tougher. It's going to be a very hard match tomorrow against Timmy. I'm looking forward to it and hopefully I'll be able to play nicely and see what happens

Where exactly are you physically? How close to 100 percent? A few minutes ago, you said I've got to get better, does that mean basically healthy-wise or --
SERGIO GARCIA: No, I wouldn't say so. I mean, to tell you the truth, I don't feel -- I'm not thinking about the hand when I'm playing, which is a good thing. There is a couple of shots here and there if I get a little steep that I might feel it a little bit. But it doesn't really bother me. Just a little bit bummed there that it doesn't seem to be going away. But fortunately for me I'm not a hand model, so I'll be fine.

stewart cink is a tested veteran

that would be who I would pick before looking into how they both are playing

I don't know his opponent but looking over his cards he is a very steady player

only 2 bogie's through the 33 holes he has played

    par 4s'

scwhartzel 2 birdies 2 bogie's with one coming after the match was in hand

(a player will just lag for the hole instead of trying to make it when they have two putts for the win)

this guy is gonna be tuff to beat because he isn't beating himself

cink 3 birdies and 1 bogey

    par 5s'

    schwarzel 4 birdies,,1 eagle,,1 bogey and 2 pars

cink 3 birdies and 5 pars

    par 3s'

schwartzel 2 birdies and 6 pars

    cink 2 birdies,,1 bogey and 5 pars

I wouldn't put a lot of stock in my picks

I can just as easily be wrong as right

golf is very hard to predict

basically match play is a mental game

all of these guys are capable of beating each other

stewart cink said it best yesterday when he said "18 holes isn't enough to separate the caliber of these players"

I hate to say it but I see villegas vs poulter in the finals

sucks to think that and not be willing to back poulter today

cink blows it on the last hole- great. what an idiot...hits it way short and drops it into the sand trap then barely gets it out of the sand getting under the ball too much and no chance at making par to halve the hole.

I watched it on the golf channel

I can't believe the coverage could be that bad by them

It seemed like they were overwhelmed and just bounced around without any kind of continuity of any of the matches

I would expect they can do a better job today with only 4 matches

I am used to watching a guy play from tee to green
