All you can ask of a golfer is to be in the mix late on Sunday. If Kuchar finishes 2nd two tournaments in a row - he's playing good golf, probably without distractions, ailments, or hitches in his swing. I always look for good golfers with recent success for a major, I'm on Kuchar.

Getting old. A tricky back limited appearances this year. Not really a value play, but if he's in the final pairings on Sunday he's a) fun to watch and b) won't be getting nervous. The guy knows the deal. I passed.

Kuchar is now 15/1, (Mickelson & Day also 15/1 ... Scott & Rory 10/1 - these are the 5 favorites) he was 25/1 to win two days ago. I'm getting whatever today's odds are.

Besides Scott/Rory? Maybe Dufner. He sometimes puts up great numbers when everyone struggles. A lot of things have to come together, though - I don't think that's something to bet on.

At Augusta National never a bad idea to back a lefty and who better then Mickelson?
Maybe square but at these odds I can't pass him. Just hoping for him to have a good Thursday and Friday...if he is in the mix come Sunday I won't complain even if I lose the bet.

Walker in the clubhouse at -2. (I passed too), Reed -2 with 4 to play in his first Masters round / Shat the bed: Dufner, Z Johnson / plenty of names looking good today.

    This is gonna be interesting!

If Kuchar can keep within 4 strokes of the lead by tee off Saturday, our bet will be in fighting shape. No worries.

Btw, Jimmy Walker birdied the last 4 holes to finish at -2. That just isn't done. Seriously. We might be looking at the Roy Hobbs of golf.

He does this every year. And even when he drops out of contention, he does it with dignity - not by taking desperate chances and having blow up in his face. (Patrick Reed)

Keep an eye on Jordan Speith - 20 years old and making it happen.

Bubba looks great but these greens can grab you by the short hairs, I wouldn't be surprised to see a double bogey derail his round. I'm rooting for Kooch!

Lead down to one, Bubba has an eagle and 4 bogeys - not good. Tournament is wide open.

Kooch is the leader in the clubhouse, not a bad spot to be.
