    AFL Round 1

    2* Hawthorn -45.5 vs Brisbane

This game has thrashing written all over it. Hawthorn have not looked trouble all season and let's not forget they beat the lions by 100+ in pre season. Yes that doesn't account for much but I just can't see a star studded firing Hawks winning by anything less than 50 against a Brisbane side devoid of star power. Hawks defence, midfield and forward line just craps on Brisbane's - as simple as that.

wow did not think hawthorn would cover after early stages of 4th quarter but they pulled it off quite comfortably in the end. well done hawthorn on thier run and gun midfield and that massive 4th qtr and well done to brisbane for putting up a fight. i think the hawks are clearly the bench mark as usual for this season.

    AFL Round 2

Sportingbet has a promo where you can either back Carlton + Hawthorn to win OR Richmond + Hawthorn to win and they'll give you odds of $4. The value just too much to resist especially since I like Richmond here.

    2* Richmond M/L + Hawthorn M/L Parlay @ 4.00

Massive massive revenge angle here for the Richmond tigers. They led by 26 in thier elimination final against Carlton only to get outscored 12 goals to 4 in the 2nd half to lose and end their season. I think Richmond haven't forgotten that and will do all they can to rip apart this fragile Carlton side. Both teams are off bad losses; richmond to gold coast and carlton to port adelaide after twice gaining the lead by 20+ at home. Nonetheless, I think the revenge angle here is huge and Richmond get the win here. I get the feeling it'll be close but wouldn't be surprised if Richmond blew out Carlton.

Essendon played a wow of a game against a North Melbourne team that failed to play with much conviction and looked half asleep. They now face a side that is multiple levels above everyone else in the hawks. Just can't see Hawthorn losing, simple as that.

EDIT: promo removed from sportingbet and I missed out on putting a play on it myself so hence won't count it. My play for tonight's game below.

Wouldn't be surprised to see a blowout but I think Carlton hang in there and Richmond end up comfortable victors - margin of victory in the mid-high 20s.

cash it fellas! a similar game to rd 1 last year where richmond led by like 30-40 then carlton clawed back and richmond escaped with a 5 point win. what a wonderful game with a bit of sweat to make it that much more entertaining. just of note, total was actually at 180.5 and they would of been the ones sweating it out the most. the total was on 178 up till the final 3 seconds where the ball went from one end to the other in the matter of 10 seconds and dustin martin swerved around and kicked it. all in all, a good play and a great game!

Hawthorn minus Hodge and Mcevoy, Fremantle minus Fyfe and Dawson. Just think that at home, Hawthorn will have to enough to get a win in what should be a nail bitter. Game of the round no doubt.

    AFL Round 3

    2* Collingwood M/L vs Geelong

Collingwood have won the past 3 h2h clashes between these two sides so they've definitely got the wood on them. Add in the fact that Swan and Cloke haven't even started playing to their potential and Geelong are minus a few of their big stars from last season in Chapman and Podsiadly. I feel that both sides are quite evenly matched but I think the fact that they've had two tough matches under their belt against competition favourites in Fremantle and Sydney versus Geelong's soft schedule (vs Adelaide & Brisbane) will be the difference and I see Collingwood winning this encounter.

Reason why i've taken the M/L over the handicap? Sportingbet has a promo right now where you put on a h2h bet on a side and if they lose by 18 points you get a refund. I think Collingwood are a big chance of winning this and so am taking my chances here. Thus I will not subtract units if they lose by less than 18 points.

    AFL Round 3

    2* GWS -22.5 vs Melbourne

Sorry can't take this Melbourne side seriously until they give me reason to. GWS wins this easy.

2* North Melbourne vs Port Adelaide -2.5

Port Adelaide have been playing the better of the two sides and it seems home and away form isn't an issue for last year's biggest improvers. Say what you want about North Melbourne, I still see this team like last year - UNDER-ACHIEVERS. I think they do get their act together in the next coming rounds but definitely not this week, not after what i've seen from them in the past 2 weeks. Port to win in what should be quite comfortable.

wow what a stitch up, port adelaide led that entire game only to lose in the dying stages of the game. but wow it's normally the other way for north melbourne so potentially a sign that they've learnt from last season's mistakes.

Western Bulldogs were down all night, even down 26 at one point then 54 point turnaround to win by 28 in the last.

West coast were absolutely pathetic, 4 goals in the 1st qtr then no goal less foor the next 3 quarters? Yes Geelong were playing great defence but they were playing like they already lost the game starting from midway in the 2nd qtr.

    Round 4

    3* Brisbane vs Richmond 1-39

I've been burnt so many times this seasons betting margins but I think it's a very high chance. Richmond have looked putrid and this is Johnno brown 250th. Something tells me that Brisbane keep it close in what should be a comfortable win for Richmond. But to say Richmond will win by more than 39 points with the form they've shown is hard. Yes the line is going up suggesting a thumping but at the Gabba and with crowd support think it will closer than what many ppl will anticipate.
