Some thoughts on the tennis matches in Hamburg tomorrow
This is really an unattractive card from a betting stand point of view. My advice is to proceed with caution tomorrow because I envision a very strong day for the favorites. In fact, I see all 8 favorites winning tomorrow but of course it's never that easy. All it takes is one slip up, one big upset to go bust tomorrow when betting favorites.
Federer/Soderling: Soderling is one of the more underrated players on tour and is always capable of a big upset. However, is h2h against RF is 0-5 (1-4 in tiebreaks) and Federer balance and strong all court game should be too much for the Sweede. At best, I can see RS taking either a set or forcing a tiebreak, but very unlikely RF loses tomorrow.
Verdasco/Ferrer: This is an intriguing matchup between 2 Spaniards. FV has a very strong record against Spaniards in recent match (7-1 L8) and has been playing some high quality tennis as of late. FV big weapon is his serve, but the same is true for DF and his is even better. Combine that with the stamina, endurance, and strong groundstrokes of DF, I see a straight sets victory for DF.
Davydenko/Kiefer: Local hope NK will look to continue to the ride the wave of momentum in his native country against world #4 ND. Kiefer has not won 3 matches in a row on clay since the French Open of 2005, and he'll need to continue to be aggressive and go for his shots here against ND if he's to win the match. The biggest advantage for ND is his ability to play great defense. ND is generally considered a great defender but a player who is not aggressive enough on the offensive side b/c he does not look for his shots. Davydenko is a great returner of serve and given NK's struggle on second serve against Wawrinka yesterday, I look for the match to be won there. Davydenko is my selection here.
Getting exhausted writing, so I'll go ahead and just give out my recommendations:
Juan Monaco
Janko Tipseravic
Novak Djokovic
Marat Safin
Rafael Nadal
I feel Safin is the strongest play on the tennis card tomorrow. Marat Safin appears to be playing much better as of late, the exact opposite of Spanish veteran Carlos Moya. Moya appears to be just about done in his career as evidenced by his recent performances. The serving and all out power of MS is considerably superior to that of Moya, and CM's depednence on his forehand and his ability to track down balls has been declining and is likely to contine to slide against the Russian in this match. I look for Safin to come through in this match as I'll make former World #1 Marat Safin my strongest recommendation for tomorrow.
Good luck everyone....

yeah, -150 is about right. It's -140 at Pinnacle, but nothing every really beats Pinnacle so you'll see a lot of -150+ on Safin. Good luck!

So far today all the favourites have lost. We might see Murray defeat Nadal and Soderling beat Federer. Tennis is a funny sport.

Yeah, was way off today. The top 3 players should survive and advance but am surprised with the way the day is unfolding. Didn't see this happening at all. Tennis is one of those sports where you never know what type of effort you are going to get from players. Clearly, today, the dogs are barking and barking loudly at that too....
Sorry about that....bad day
