~Saratoga (The Spa) 2009 Meet~
oh baby - just a few more days until the historic spa opens for racing. hope to get down there once this summer as it truly is a must visit town. unreal atmosphere, and the quality of racing is the best there is. as i did with belmont, i will make win/place wagers for each race during the week at $20 win/$20 place. a best bet (**) will be $40/$40. Here is my one Saratoga tip to all you SBR horsemen:
play any linda rice trained 2 year old in a turf/sprint.
good luck this meet.

nothing else but the form. in saratoga though, i tend to focus more on jockey/trainer combos - post positions, and horses for the course.
not as much beyer figures, but i do look at them. i use beyers more at aqueduct and belmont.
this meet will probably net me less winners, but higher payouts per win. the fields are large and talented. jockeys get mad value at this track since there are so many great ones here for the meet. where as in belmont guys like dominguez and garcia always get bet down no matter the horse.

you like jockeys....here are some good jockey notes for ya:
play alan garcia in Grade 1 races...
when in doubt, play ramon dominguez (i think hes the best all around jockey in the ny colony)
play javier castellano on the turf.
jose espinoza is a very underrated turf rider....he came home with a bomb yesterday.
play jorge chavez in the mud.
i stay away from john velazquez if i could...he burns up money on favorites all the time.
this meet is a joke...you have guys like julian leparoux, calvin borel invading. there is sick value at this meet, b/c no one jockey will get overvalued as they would at aqueduct etc..

wow!!! DEX i love this right here my man this is what i'm talking about its all about jockeys and trainers and speed figures help but mainly sucker the average joe into betting those horses, I know thi because i have many friends whos dads or uncles knew jockeys and when they were winning would give the thumbs up to each other and would go out and party their faces off, i dont work fridays and will be at the track as soon as possible to get me a program whats the post time for the first saratoga race tomorrow?

the only thing that sucks about monmouth is on big races its nothign but chalk, but i know trainers and owners from chillen at the bar they got there u learn a lot from these guys one day i wanna own my own horse they have a lot of overhead cost but they win you one race your set

i hate the slop - grass races is where i tend to do a little better i think.
*Note - as with Belmont, when a turf race is switched to the main track, my selection is always the "MTO" horse if i list one. Even if my original turf selection stays in, my MTO play gets the nod in the mud.
If I dont list an MTO, and the race is moved to the dirt - my turf selection gets played in the mud if he wasn't scratched.
