Though a good driver, Ron Pierce is an idiot!

How's this for a Ron Pierce story. Canadian Pacing Derby Eliminations back a few years ago. Pierce comes out on post parade driving Tigerama, except he doesn't know it's Tigerama. He looks over and see's Roger Mayotte on Escape the Wind and asks Roger, "is that your big horse?" Mayotte says it is and Pierce says "wasn't sure this race was the elim or not". How can one be so clueless is beyond me.

If I could choose any driver to drive a horse I would probably choose pierce 2nd. My fave driver, who was really burning it up before he got hurt, is oddly enough george brennan. When he hits a horse you know you are gonna get a good drive or at least a try.

Mayotte is one of the worst drivers out there. I rarely bet him and love it when he is on a big fave as I know he will just **** it up and I get good odds on someone else.

Let me guess this straight you rather have George Brennan drive your horse then Tim Tetrick or most of all Brian Sears?? George Brennan only drives to win the race he will quit driving the horse if the horse he driving is 2nd or 3rd for that matter.. I am not saying he is horrible and opinion is your opinion but there are way better.

Sears is a good driver but he is like anthony morgan too much in that they will happily take a fave first over without a thought. He does manage to get alot out of his horse. Tetrick is awful and was always awful until he started to race 150 times a night and got the wins not through skill but just plain quantity. There is no way in hell I would put him on my horse. I do think David Miller drives a nice horse and his brother is a good driver too but gets no respect or chances.

I do agree with you there 100% where they will take a fav 1st over without a thought and for that fact most of the time out of the money espically for trainers they don't drive for all the time. but for the part where Tetrick is awful I don't know about that the kid has gotten 50 times better.. Southwind Lynx in the pace would be an example (I know it was luck somewhat) but he is patient has a good set of hands..
