I haven't believed in Detroit, (tho they are proving me wrong here somewhat) so i'm sticking to that belief. I think the Pens, who have been ultra impressive win it all.

Detroit has been playing better than I expected as well. Despite that, I like the Penguins in six.

also pens in 6. detroit might be the best playoff team they have faced as of yet but when pitt knows they have to play they are unbeatable.

Pittsburgh has the youth, which means they lack experience.
Penguins haven't yet faced a defense like Detroits in the playoffs.

Pittsburgh looked good against Philly - PHILLY! - a team that didn't make the playoffs last year! (LOL!) while Detroit had to beat Dallas to get this far.
The Western division was much tougher than the East this year.

Detroit plays smart, win alot of faceoffs and are the complete package, well minus a star goaltender. Osgood is OK, not great.

I'm not impressed with Pens goalie Fleury at all, his record is excellent, because of the team in front of him and the weak competition so far.

Past experience makes me believe Detroit wins the cup, again.

I'll say Detroit in 5.

If recent history proves to be a trend, neither team will make it to the finals next year.

Lets be a little bit realistic here fellows. Pittsburgh had the benefit of playing a Sens team without 3 key players in their lineup and then met the Flyers without their two top defensemen in their lineup. Say what you want but the Pens haven't really played a team with its' entire lineup, except the Rangers I admit. Furthermore they've had the luxury of home ice advantage, something they won't have in the Finals against Detroit. Both Pittsburgh defeats in this year's playoffs have been on the road as well and they haven't gone up against a defensive pairing in the likes of Lidstrom and Rafalski, though the Flyers certainly would have proposed that duo to them had Timonen and Coborn been healthy. A huge key for Detroit will be the health of Franzen, who currently leads all playoff scorers with 12 goals. That will be another bonus favoring Pittsburgh if he's unable to go and would certainly add to Pittsburgh lucky fortunes in that they've already have met two of their three playoff opponents with key absentees. Should be and hopefully will be a good final but I simply think the experience and home ice advantage will carry Detroit forward.

I'm not so sure about that myself when the entire team is put up against the Wings.

i underestimated Detroit this year in the playoffs because they always find a way to loose in the past. But since they made it till here i will pick them to win. I always believed that whoever won the western conference will eventually win the cup. I originally had Anaheim repeating, but what did them was the 7 game suspension pronger got at the end of the year. That sort of destabilized the team and when pronger got back he wasn't the same. The best move Detroit did was sitting hasek in favor of Osgood. All you would hear is hasek that hasek this. Zetteberg and Datsuk are the best two way players in the game. Detroit's D-men, Lindstrom, Rafalsky, Kronwall, Stuart is far superior than Pitt's and in goal Osgood's 55 playoff wins, has been in far more pressure situations than Fleury. Pitt's offense might be better but only slightly better. i think Detroit has all the element in their disposal to seal the deal.

I think whoever wins game 1 will win the series. I hope Pitt wins but I suspect there's too much experience on Detroit for them to give it away.

Wings in 5. Pens will only win one game at home.

I was thinking the same thing. The NBA and NHL need to revise their schedules if series end early.

My guess would be ratings, hockey is a numbers driven industry, as any sport, and what better night to start these two teams(ratings perspective) than a primetime Saturday evening showdown between these star laden teams. This is coming from a Canadian perspective, I dont know what American sentiment is, but most of Canadian households will be glued to this one.

I think they want to make sure they get Hockey Night in Canada a game, and I'm sure NBC wanted specific dates.

My hometown. Red Wings in 5. Even our smaller forwards are throwin checks! Michigan is in a recession and gas is at $4.10/gal but the Wings are good reason to be upbeat.
