Default Brian Gabrielle: Play Pens vs Blues

Play Pens vs Blues

Game Time: 12/19/2006 7:00:00 PM

With the St. Louis Blues in a horrible slump, the Pittsburgh Penguins are the right play at home tonight.

We'll keep betting against the Blues who just can't find the win column.

The team's 7-14 start has reached rock bottom, followed by 11 straight losses, three of them in overtime/shootout fashion.

Things don't generally improve on the road for St. Louis who is 3-9-3 away from home including four straight at Chicago, Detroit, Colorado and Nashville. And that should hold true here in Pittsburgh where the Penguins have annihilated their last two opponents - - Philadelphia and the NY Islanders - - by a combined score of 15-8. Ryan Malone had a hat trick in the Pens' latest win, 7-4 over the Isles, with Mark Recchi and Sidney Crosby each recording three assists.

Prediction: Pittsburgh-4, St. Louis-3

Play: Penguins as a 1 Unit selection

St.Louis has had some very good success against Pitt in recent meetings. However, I can't bet on the Blues right now though either. The over 6.5 is the best way to play this game IMO
