Default Anaheim signs 14-year veteran Green to one-year deal

A very solid pick up who didn't miss one game last season.

Quote:
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- The Anaheim Ducks signed center Travis Green to a one-year contract on Thursday.

The 14-year NHL veteran, who was with the Ducks in the late 1990s, played in 82 games for Boston last season, one of only two Bruins who did not miss a game. He had 10 goals and 12 assists.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pounder came to the Ducks in February 1998 and was with them for the entire 1998-99 season. He had 18 goals and 28 assists in 101 games for Anaheim.

The Ducks traded Green and their first-round draft choice (Scott Kelman) in the 1999 NHL entry draft to Phoenix for Oleg Tverdovsky in June 1999. Green was originally acquired by the Ducks along with Doug Houda and Tony Tuzzolino in a Feb. 6, 1998, deal that sent Joe Sacco, J.J. Daigneault and Mark Jenssens to the New York Islanders.

Green, taken by the Islanders with the 23rd pick in the 1989 draft, has 192 goals and 261 assists in 939 career games.

I read an article on Paul Kariya awhile ago. He said he really likes to play poker and he said he was pretty good. When they interviewed old teammates and friends, they all said Paul was not near as good at poker as he thinks he is and that that Travis Greeene is the real shark at the table. Kinda funny. Anaheim will be VERY solid on defence this year.
